The superdelegate shuffle seems to be in full swing today, with senators meeting on Capitol Hill and several leaders in the states coming out for Senator Barack Obama, along with two for Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton.
......
Meanwhile, Mr. Clyburn was busily calling South Carolinian superdels, urging them to get behind the candidate, the A.P. said.
And up on Capitol Hill, which houses a slush fund of superdelegates, several senators who have been uncommitted were holding a meeting at the headquarters of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. Our colleague Carl Hulse tells us that Senators Ken Salazar of Colorado, Tom Harkin of Iowa and Tom Carper of Delaware, were among those attending.
Carl said that senators indicated that they convened a meeting to decide on a “unity” strategy as to whether they could come together once the polls close tomorrow night to announce their selection. (F.Y.I., New York’s senior senator, Chuck Schumer, chairman of the D.S.C.C., was not there for those who might find curious the meeting locale, given that he had earlier endorsed Senator Clinton.)
...........
Adding to the Obama count today were: Janee Murphy, secretary of Florida’s Democratic Party (that’s a half-vote because of the D.N.C.’s decision on Saturday: Jerome Wiley Segovia of Virginia, Nancy DiNardo, chairwoman of the Connecticut Democratic Party;
Gwethalyn Phillips of Bangor, Maine, a former state party official, (an “add-on”); and two Michigan officials (both get half-votes for the same reason as Ms. Murphy above).
