Those who cast the Votes, they decide nothing. Those who count the votes, they decide everything.

The Democratic nomination is decided by DELEGATES. This is somethinhg that is widely known, that even Clinton campaign officials like Harold Ickes stressed at the beginning of the process. The popular vote is a meaningless, and in fact, undeterminable, metric in a mixed primary/caucus system (and by all valid estimates that include caucus totals, Obama is ahead, anyway). Obama has won the most delegates. Therefore he will be the nominee.

11. Why are people still acting like this was a valid election???????
Seating the delegates wouldn't enfranchise voters, the voters were permanently disenfranchised when they were told their votes wouldn't count prior to the election. Counting votes doesn't fix that.

21. I somewhat agree with the MI decision
Edited on Mon Jun-02-08 06:12 PM by datopbanana
The quantity of people who voted may have been surpassed by the number of people who stayed home because they were told the election wouldn't count. MI's turnout was about 1/3 of the average of other state's turnout (Should have been closer to 1.9M not 600k).

The RBC's decision recognized that the election was a fake so they awarded delegates hypothetically.

I think this was the political solution so it appears like the voters were represented.

However, the most honest solution would have been a 50-50 split because this election meant and proved nothing.

EDIT Oh, and the Clinton people only accepted this after THEIR solution of choice (full seating/full vote) was denied.
