Concede or Suspend?
Which will Hillary do tomorrow?

What are the difference between these two moves?

Is Hillary waiting for some fatal (rumored) Obama "scandal"?

4. Not sure but I think if she suspends
she can still raise money and she does have quite a bit of debt.

6. suspend
Edited on Mon Jun-02-08 04:17 PM by ErinBerin84
but I think there will be pressure from party leaders to endorse Obama anyways. I think she can still suspect and endorse, technically. That's what Mitt did, right?

7. Can she suspend her campaign and make it sound like a gracious concession?
"While I maintain all options, I'd like to congratulate our party's apparent candidate..."

14. That's a great question
If her surrogates hadn't been so adversarial over the past week, it wouldn't matter. Now a suspension of her campaign will draw suspicions that she is rooting for something bad to happen to Obama politically.

10. She will suspend just like John Edwards did.
Nothing wrong with that since they all usually do a "suspension" in a primary.

11. If she suspends her campaign
it is like "freezing it"

Waiting for maybe someone to be maybe assassinated... Like she said, anything can happen.

13. Hillary would be the last person to benefit from such a tragedy.
Do you really think Obama's people would flock to her?

On the other hand, if something as unlikely as the dead girl or live boy scenario occurred, she might have a chance.

I still think a third party compromise would be more likely in either event.

12. Suspending allows her to continue to raise money to pay her considerable debt.
Either way her candidacy is effectively over.

18. what difference would it make.
Let's say she concedes and something unthinkable happened to prevent Obama from accepting the nomination. Do you think her concession would disqualify her from becoming the candidate? Of course not.

25. The thing about
"suspending" is that it allows her to continue to pay campaign employees. It is a way to concede.

Would it be worth it to end the lingering hopes of a Clinton miracle by her ardent supporters?

28. Campaign finance law
is not my strong point, and so I can only say what others have told me. I am under the impression that Obama is relatively limited in the manner he can assist her if she is not on the ticket. At this point, all indications are that she is being offered health & human services, not the VP slot.

I can ask a friend who has answered my questions about campaign finance in the past.
