Hillary’s Crazy Crew (Obama has his work cut out for him).
Edited on Mon Jun-02-08 09:41 AM by Doityourself

We'd heard a lot about Barack Obama's fanatical supporters, but little about Hillary Clinton's frenzied following - until this past weekend's meeting of the Democratic National Committee's Rules and Bylaws Committee.

Yet that passion is teetering on the brink of morphing into a raging anti-Obama force.

<Snip>

ASs voting was taking place, a woman wearing a "Team Hillary" shirt shoved a man wearing a small Obama button on his lapel, The New York Times reported. Another woman yelled, "McCain in '08! McCain in '08! No-bama! No-bama!"

The proceedings were often interrupted by boos and hisses when support for anything less than full seating was expressed. At one point, a childish exchange in the audience - "Shut up!" answered by "You shut up!" - brought things to a stop.

<snip>

At a rally a few blocks from the DNC meeting, a New Republic reporter witnessed Clinton supporters fawning over Larry Sinclair, a Minnesotan peddling fliers titled, "Obama's Dirty Little Secrets: Murder, Drugs, Gay Sex." Sinclair has posted YouTube videos alleging he used cocaine with Obama and performed a sex act on him in 1999. One Hillary supporter advised Sinclair, "You could improve your credibility if you downplayed the gay sex and focused on the drugs."

<snip>

Anyone who has worked on a campaign has seen fanatical (and often emotionally unstable) supporters who embarrass the candidate. Those people obviously aren't representative. But the anger and resentment seems to run deep for many Clinton backers, and shows little sign of receding.

Polls confirm the impression left by anecdotal evidence. Roughly 30 percent of Clinton supporters say they'll vote for John McCain over Obama. Initial exit polls for yesterday's Puerto Rico primary asked Clinton voters if they'd be satisfied if Obama clinches the nomination. Seventy-two percent said no; only 26 percent said yes.

Clinton supporters have found solace online. Facebook, the social networking site, has spawned groups such as "Is Obama qualified? No, but he did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night" where Hillary supporters can vent. Other popular pages include, "Hillary, don't let them tell you to quit" and "Women and Men Leaving the DNC if HRC isn't the nominee."

1. There does seem to be a serious emotional component
involved with many Hillary supporters. Emotions, are a difficult aspect to deal with. Hopefully, there is enough time for the emotions to weaken and reason to replace them.

you would understand that I didn't offer any sort of fix, just an observation. Not that this bit of reason will matter to you.

25. Emotions are okay
this is more about emotional instabilities, and worse, a candidate playing on those emotional fears and instabilities, in oder to further her personal goals. If this wasn't about her personal goals, she would have conceeded by now, or at least, tried to help her supporters get emotionally prepared for a defeat.

Instead of whipping them into a frenzy just to make her feel wanted and popular. It is freaking sick puppy to do this to people who are not the most stable Mables. If she had a chance at winning, that would be understandable, but as things have turned out, it is cruel to get people's hopes up only to be dashed.

manipulation of emotions, for person gain.

part of women in this country will pull the lever for their families and their country and vote party line. to imply otherwise mocks their intelligence, maturity and patriotism.

24. Wow.
He astonished me first by claiming he met Obama in a high class nightclub, and then again when he left in his very own limo with Obama. He's saying this while he's setting in a cheap motel in a baseball cap, with a West Virginian (or thereabouts) accent. I don't think he's ever been NEAR a high class nightclub or a limo. Banjos anyone?

9. I'm not sure if it's pro-Hillary as much as Obama-hate
fueling these people. It's dark.

Every candidate has over-the-top supporters, but the deep hatred in those folks who have been highlighted recently is frightening.

And also alarming is the number of people who apparently feel this way. :scared:

14. Yes. Things are sure coming
to the surface. Even people who have been posting here for a long time are showing their true "colors." I knew it would be unpleasant, but I really didn't know that the hatred was so deep. I don't think it is feminism, so much. I believe feminism is mostly a "cover." This is a sorry segment of the population. My own cousins are in that segment.

26. We saw this early on in Iowa
and we had it for quite a time.. when it became obvious that Senator Clinton was not going to take Iowa, the phone calls started.. one of her lieutenants had to resign because of the Muslim email they sent around..and the deep visceral identity with their candidate was palpable.. it really was and is personal.. again this is just some of the supporters, certainly not the majority..

Many.. not all of course..but many are not able to even appreciate that Senator Clinton has totally broken that glass ceiling to presidency.. and I think maybe it might be that they are looking at it as if this is the last time a woman will run instead of a bright new day...

59 year old white woman here..
