If the popular vote mattered
Al Gore would be the president today.

6. The point is, rules are rules
And no matter HOW much you'd like to challenge them, the last minute is NOT the time.

9. Well how does that pertain to President Gore?
Are you saying stopping the vote.

Not counting all of the votes.

Giving old folks butterfly ballots.

Challenging hanging chads.

Disenfranchising minority voters.

Diebold machines, etc., etc., etc.

Are all examples of challenging rules?

No, that's challenging cheating.

But I'm glad you recognize your RIDICULOUS example.

See I can type in CAPS also.

10. Boy, do you misundertand my post
In any democratic process, you MUST choose a rigid set of criteria for winning.

EITHER you choose a "delegate" or "elector" system, in which the popular vote MAY NOT decide the final outcome (but gives representation to ALL regions regardless of polulation count)

OR you choose a strictly popular vote, in which case the large population centers are EVERYTHING.

Or you could even choose a compromise between the two, such as "proportional" elections.

But what you CAN'T do is change the METHOD of voting in the heat of an election.

Yes, I'm WELL AWARE of the cheating done in FL, OH and elsewhere. But that cheating was done WITHOUT changing the basic election mechanism.

Even the GOP wouldn't attempt that.

3. If the popular vote mattered, and it does, Obama would have yet another metric for his nomination.
