Obama has too many supporters. Donor lists too large for FEC!
The record-shattering fundraising by Democratic presidential candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton has reshaped the financing of presidential elections and generated breathless coverage and analysis of the otherwise arcane area of campaign finance.

Yet it’s had another consequence that has gone all but unnoticed. The campaign finance reports filed by Obama and Clinton have grown so massive that they’ve strained the capacity of the Federal Election Commission, good government groups, the media and even software applications to process and make sense of the data.

A milestone of sorts was reached earlier this year, when Obama, the Illinois senator whose revolutionary online fundraising has overwhelmed Clinton, filed an electronic fundraising report so large it could not be processed by popular basic spreadsheet applications like Microsoft Excel 2003 and Lotus 1-2-3.

In other news, Clinton's most recent fundraising report was submitted on the back of a cocktail napkin.

1. Carville: "It's not a donor base; it's a political party."

5. That's so fucking awesome; like symbolic of his whole campaign about "change"
Obama's ALREADY become an agent creating historical change in the political landscape, and he's not even become President yet.

Reminds me of one of those wise sayings, about how a measure of authenticity is that the means used to achieve lofty goals must clearly
reflect and and embody the ends being sought.

6. Well, now the list is one larger than it was...

Just donated for the first time! $50. Plan on doing the same every 15 days from now till the fall election.

Gobama!

8. WaHoo!
This certainly diminishes the leverage the money bag men think they have over Obama. Screw 'em! Their puffery, and threats to not channel funding to his campaign are falling like little unexploded bombs. clink...clunk

It's the people's time now.

I just donated again, and while not as much of a thrill as voting, it sure feels mighty fine!

9. But how many of BO's donations came from Republicans hoping he'll destroy HRC for them?
My guess is a lot.

How else could a rank newcomer with no national political organization raise so much money, so fast?

I really do believe that much of the wind beneath Obama's wings is GOP hot air.
