All religious people should be outraged by this comment! How arrogant and elitist! Does he think religious people are afraid of baptism?

12. Baptism...
I was baptised as an infant (congregationalist). It didn't stop me from becoming a totally heathen pagan. I saw my baptist friend get (full-immersion, but gentle) baptised at 12. I wasn't impressed...or afraid of it.

When my oldest son was born, my mother kept asking for me to have him baptised. I knew it woiuld make her happy so I asked , "What would I have to do?" She replies, "You'd have to swear to the minister that he would be raised as a christian." I said, "Mom, you know I can't do that. That would be a lie. if you want him baptised, I give you permission to do so, stand in as a godparent or something, but I can't do that."

In the end, he is still unbaptised, and I think none the worse for it. If he desires baptism, he will seek it out for himself, he is certainly more of a christian than me.

Full-immersion baptism, especially when you're being double-dog *dared* to do it, is just a *christian* hazing ritual.
