I just remembered a piece of ancient history regarding Obama's willingness to talk with the so-calle
rogue states and leaders. Wasn't it Richard Nixon who went to China to break down the bamboo wall? And wasn't he a Republican? Just a thought from a crotchety old democrat.

YEARS of preparation went into Nixon's visit, and you can bet there were lots of preconditions.

I don't think there is much for the US to gain from a visit between an American president and a nutcase like Ahmadinejad. Do you think Obama could ever convince him that the Holocaust is real? Or that there are gays in Iran?
