She is Disgusting

There was no need for her to bring up 1968
The example was historically inaccurate.

What more do the Super Delegates need in order to stop further damage to the Democratic party?

She is Disgusting

Marty Peretz The New Republic May 25

Maybe Hillary Clinton doesn't remember.
But there were three candidates in the 1968 race for the Democratic nomination
for president. One of them was Hubert Humphrey, the then-serving vice president
and the ultimate designee. Another was Eugene McCarthy, who the week before the California
primary won the Oregon contest quite handsomely and was still a real
contender. And, of course, there was Robert F. Kennedy, a charismatic leader who was assassinated --
dare I remind you? --
by a Palestinian
nationalist, Sirhan Sirhan. (Just look at any of the thousands of entries
on Google for Sirhan's own explanation for the killing. RFK was, to
tell the truth, the first victim of Palestinian terrorism.)

In any case, the candidate with the most delegates, even after Bobby
narrowly won the California race, was Humphrey,
and the fact is that
McCarthy was still very much a contender. But given the murky realities of
the contest, the one and only reason for Hillary to allude Kennedy's death
was to raise the specter of Obama's death.
Like reminding us that her
support came from hard-working white Americans. And his from shiftless and
lazy black Americans, no doubt.

My she is disgusting.

Remember when Rachel Maddow said we better start believing that Hillary means
what she says? And Eugene Robinson said it too. So what IS Hillary's point?

The Fallacy of Clinton's 1968 Analogy

May 24, 2008 Jake Tapper ABC

...the timeline doesn't square because the first real contest in 1992 was the New Hampshire primary on Feb. 18. (No one competed in Iowa because Harkin was so favored.) This year's contests began on Jan. 3, 2008. Meaning this race started earlier than ever. Bill Clinton competing in June then is more like her competing in April today.

And that makes the 1968 analogy all the more inapt. Because the first contest that year, the New Hampshire primary, was on March 12, 1964.

Meaning, the fact that it was still going on in June then would be like this year's race still going on in March.

But that doesn't even really begin to explain how the 1968 comparison is ludicrous.

...Clinton went on in that same editorial board meeting with the Argus Leader to say "I have, perhaps, a long enough memory that many people who finished a rather distant second behind nominees go all the way to the convention. I remember very well 1980, 1984, 1988, 1992, where some who had contested in the primaries, you know, were determined to carry their case to the convention."

Let's review: 1980 -- Republican wins; 1984 -- Republican wins; 1988 -- Republican wins; 1992 -- Democrat wins; but doesn't reach 50 percent of the vote and is only victorious, in all likelihood, because of the third-party candidacy of H. Ross Perot.*

...more at the link

She means what she says. She wants 2008 to be just like 1968, 1980, 1984 and 1988.

The first word of your post is an attack on the poster whom you accuse of, 'going after the speaker, or the poster.'

24. Pointing out bad behavior is not 'attacking the poster', it's 'attacking' the behavior.
When you act like a shithead, don't whine about being 'attacked' for acting like a shithead.

Get it?

44. Too late already, I'm afraid.
The number of Clinton support boards sprung up from TS'd and disillusioned DU'ers is STAGGERING. AND the number of Democrats on the outside who might just give this election a "by" is also staggering. I don't know one person who is happy with this primary or the election, and my list is very, very long.

26. **Fox Noise spreading Clinton's assassination meme - Complain!**
Edited on Mon May-26-08 01:22 PM by WillYourVoteBCounted

Speak up - Complain about Trotta

On Fox News this weekend contributor Liz Trotta openly and laughingly wished for the assassination of US Sen. Barack Obama.

In discussing Hillary’s Friday remarks referencing the assassination of RFK in June Trotta says

And now we have what, uh, some are reading as a suggestion that somebody knock off Osama, um uh, Obama, well both if we could (laughs)

How is this in any way acceptable in our country?
These are OUR airwaves, being used to encourage the murder of a high ranking member of the US Government and a presidential front runner.

Report her comment to the FCC

File a complaint with the FCC. You can go to the form for a general media complaint here.

It is a brief form and will only take a minute or two to fill out.

Ms. Trotta is also an author.

What comments will find their way to her book reviews at sites like Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, etc. ?

29. this is exactly what I think
this is exactly what I think. She's as intelligent as we are (and we are not that much), and we folks do not say things alike that for nothing, even if we are tired, and if we ever do ...

So she's disqualifying definitely Obama for not being in the exact middle of the things, for being much too black, much too different, much to philosophy, much too good, much too clever for her. For not being a dog alike much of the politicians, for being just a person with ideals ... that she already loose years ago.

In any case this is ... divide and conquer. If nothing happens till then, she will play the victim and the clintons will go alone, without the democrats ... and some super delegated may follow. This is the ultimate bomb she was thinking about. All of us will be considered as lunatic leftist and some people will embrace her candidacy. The clintons think she has her chances ... But she's wrong. She's so wrong in her analysis that she already loose the true primaries.

17. When you get so full of yourself, that you cannot see truth.. then...
you are in trouble. Very serious trouble. We need to see ourselves realistically. Honestly.

If we cannot see ourselves honestly, we cannot figure out how and where to go. We get delusional. Sadly, that is where Hillary is right now.

18. I'm tired of Hillary Clinton.
I've been saying for the last year that she was running as a Republican, based on her arrogance, her hawkishness, and her lies and personal attacks.

Can someone please put Obama so far over the top that she can't possibly dispute the math (even though math is clearly not her forte) so she'll just *go away*?

19. 1968 did`t effect her like it did to those
who had their lives on the line...she was a Wellesley girl while millions of guys like me were wondering if out number was up. it`s interesting that she would bring up bobby because when he was killed the hope for our generation died. it has taken 40 years to have a candidate as good as obama and she still does`t understand....

she`s a sad pathetic person who still believes that it our generation should lead. sorry hillary our role now is to advise when asked and work to make sure our children and grandchildren have what we pissed away.

28. She was also a REPUBLICAN at the time and campaigning for
Nelson Rockefeller to win the GOP nomination, so it is EXTRA outrageous that she would use the RFK example considering she was doing eveything she could to prevent a Democrat from becoming President in 1968!

23. I think that she wants it to be more 1960 when...
... Kennedy was forced into choosing Lyndon B. Johnson to be his Vice President.

http://educationforum.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=6161

In '60 Johnson ran a vicious campaign against Kennedy. He used the "kitchen sink" strategy against Kennedy but it didn't work. Despite objections from some liberals, including his brother, Robert. Kennedy chose Johnson as his vice anyway because he felt that he couldn't win the South without Johnson on the ticket. Kennedy won the election but 2 years later he was assassinated and Johnson took his place as president.
