Democrat presidential hopeful John Kerry and his wife got into a heated argument after a campaign rally in Arizona Sunday night -- a heated argument so hot they spent the night in different rooms!

A well-placed law enforcement source tells DRUDGE how Kerry and Teresa Heinz moved to separate suites at Flagstaff's Little America Hotel.

"It was a cooling off, nothing more," says a top source.

The stress of the campaign and the nonstop tour of battleground states is taking a toll on the Kerrys.

Teresa Heinz Kerry has been confiding in staffers how the tour is just "nonstop movement" and how there "is no time just to 'be.'"

Not 3 miles from me. GREAT buffets on the weekdays.

And everyone knows hard-travelling is stressful and can make ANY couple snipey.

At the Grand Canyon, she wouldn't get too close to the rim because of her vertigo. This caused some tension because he was trying to get her to come closer, and she said he "didn't understand vertigo". When he said he did, she said, "then you need to respect it." Oops, John! :-)

That makes them REAL to me, and not cardboard cut-out Stepford robots that apparently dirtball Americans who love Bush prefer.

In other words, stories like these will have NO net bad effect, and may even help, as many couples could probably relate, lol.
