Poll question: What will be Obama's margin of victory?
I'm actually wondering if he might even carry DuPage at the rate he's polling.

1. Repugs will be Repugs
Edited on Wed Aug-11-04 01:04 PM by LondonReign2
And 35% of them will vote straight party repug, so his margin wil probbaly only be about 15%.

But who cares!?? The GOOPers are going down in such flames, it is a delight to see!

6. It was Obama 67% Keyes 28% BEFORE Keyes opened his mouth
Keyes will lose in what may possibly be the WORST landslide defeat ever suffered in an Illinois race.

2. I'll take a stab and say 16%
Obama will EASILY get 98% in Chicago.

Obama will also do very well Downstate.

3. I hope it is at least 10%
I wish there were some effective way to shut Keyes up. The more he grabs the headlines as he has been doing the last two days, the more positive people will feel about him and vote for him. Both the Trib and Sun Times ran "positive" Keyes news today.

5. OH YES, I AM SO AFRAID!!!!!

Keyes flaming rightwing rhetoric is doing mroe to TURN OFF voters than get him votes.

He was down 30% before he started opening his mouth. He has nowhere to go but down.

4. The poll taken on last Friday and Saturday had Obama up by 39%
That was BEFORE Keyes opened up his big mouth.

I suspect he's flowting down around 20% now and Obama has at least a 45% lead.

8. I voted for 40-45%
but I think the margin will be worse.

Last poll showed a 39% margin. I think his rhtoric has pushed him down in the polls since then.

9. No offense to blacks or farmers, but I can see this conversation
Taking place all over the rural areas of Illinois:

Farmer 1: "So we got 2 of THEM running against each other. I think I'll sit this out".

Farmer 2: "Not me. Obama may colored, but he's OUR boy"!

Yep, the Repukes screwed the pooch with this one (Keyes).

15. That's kind of stupid.
Obama is currently polling above 50% downstate.

Just because you are a farmer doesn't mean you are racist.

19. What did you mean then?
Because you certainly implied as much. I don't mean to pick a fight, its just that I disagree with the premise of your post.

I'm a little sensitive to the whole idea that people that aren't from a major metropolitan area are automatically assumed to be more racist than those from the big city.

I come from a very rural area of a rural state, and the most virulently racist people I've ever met have been people I've encountered since coming to Chicago. In my opinion, neither country folk or city folk have the market cornered on this type of behavior.

There, I got that out of my system. (if hicks don't stick up for each other, then who will?)

20. Sigh
"I'm a little sensitive to the whole idea that people that aren't from a major metropolitan area are automatically assumed to be more racist than those from the big city."

Once again, where did I say that exactly? You are very good at imagining what I may or may not be thinking, but you are terrible at reading.

Having said that, I agree 100% with what you wrote. Especially here in Chicago we are NOT lacking for racism. And I KNOW that not all downstaters are racists, I used the "imaginary" conversation as an example of the Republic stratergy backfiring.

Now please: if you want to continue this, just argue with what I write; not with what you think I mean.

Thanks!

21. You wrote:
"I can see this conversation... Taking place all over the rural areas of Illinois", then proceeded to imagine a rather bigoted converstation.

You made a point to say that these were rural people, and that it was happening "all over" areas with farmers.

That was the premise I disagreed with.

There. My nit-picking is done.

11. He polled at 28% before he started talking
Keyes does not play well in Illinois.

22% is my prediction, with Obama over 70%.
