I just got back from a candidates forum in a predominately repug area of
Arizona. It was horrible! It is really scary to interact with the repugs and find out what they are made of.I tried to behave myself and quietly support the candidate I was with until I was confronted by an Hispanic factory worker for Bush who told me Kerry had voted against protecting the troops and that he has never lived better than under the Bush ecomomy as under Clinton he made $16 an hour and now he makes $22 an hour. And he says all 75 empolyees at his plant are doings o as well.I told him Kerry voted against the second version of the bill because he wanted the armaments and war toys to be paid for by repealing the taxcuts for the top 1% and that Bush had also cut military benefits and so Kerry couldn't vote for it. Bush threatened to veto the version Kerry voted for.The worker told me he didn't want the rich to be taxed because the more money that they had was passed to him.I said I was pleased for him and his 75 friends but millions of Americans had lost their jobs including my husband .He has been offered a job at $7 an hour and we have no benefits,He has a masters degree!Guy still insists it's better under Bush because he is getting his! I could hate these people. BTW, no one in the audience wanted to pay taxes but they kept us there forever demanding free programs for their "special children" and seem to think that their should be 2 teachers and 2 aides for every 15 students. They deserve it! They , the fiscal conservatives want a balanced budjet but have no way of paying for their demands. And it is always their own agenda and the hell with everyone else. Sheesh. I don't think I can go to another of these things, I can no longer attempt bi-partisanship. They are evil!

1. I know how you feel.
My husband works with a guy like that. Will vote for * this time cause he got $300 back in taxes last year and that * gave him a little cash is all he cares about. Sometimes I think the Ds shouldn't have insisted on the addition of that pittance to the legislation and should have let the Rs just hang with their rich guy tax cut.

2. Conservatism is about greed.
To the modern conservative the only thing that is important is money. If they have theirs the hell with everyone else. What really amazes me is that most of these people will claim that they are Christians. The hypocrisy is amazing.

3. Not evil, but very selfish
The attitude of "I've got mine, to hell with everyone else" is one I've observed in conservative circles before. The saddest thing about them is that they demand no taxes yet insist on special services for their pet projects. Guess they still believe in Santa Claus.

Sorry about your husband. Has he checked out learning Quick Books? I did, and now do bookkeeping for a couple of small businesses at about the same pay I was getting before I lost my previous job. It is something you can do part time and can help keep body and soul together. (From another person underemployed with a post graduate degree)

4. They want everything from the government when they need it
And then they complain about poor people who want help for their families.

The irony of being a Bush supporter.
