Kerry's Iraq War Resolution Vote: What You Should Keep In Mind
At the time of the vote, Saddam hadn't allowed weapons inspectors back into his country. Bush asked for the vote because he wanted to use it to jaw-bone the U.N. to get the inspectors back into Iraq. Also, remember that Bush asked for that vote on the one year anniversary of 9/11 and during the mid-term elections.

Given that the nation was in mourning and that Iraq refused to allow weapons inspections, I can understand Kerry's vote.
