Setting an example for overcoming partisan differences to get everyone on board to address climate change and all its horrific ramifications.

The obama aides and clinton aides will get along just fine. Its business to them not personal. Us on here are the ones who are making this personal.

Just because he's not in office, doesn't mean he doesn't have influence and power in the party.

Same goes for the newt.

35. Who said anything about "kissy poo" ??
I agree with what Jake3463 said.

Climate change is one issue that our very survival depends upon and even the Pentagon has said it's a top national security issue.

We MUST look for and find common ground in order to get ANYTHING done.

Edited on Thu May-22-08 06:12 PM by Xipe Totec
It's another bait and switch.

Gingrich criticized the limit proposed by Kerry and said the senator's policy was to create a "level of pain" to compel businesses to cut their emissions, whereas he said he wanted to create a "level of pleasure" through tax breaks that would give incentives to polluters to develop new carbon-reducing technologies.

43. That doesn't mean a thing.
Gingrich has no status and his proposal carries no weight. He is only one voice among many.

The imperative thing right now is to get everyone to acknowledge the critical nature of the immediate problem and to sit down together in good faith, looking for solutions.

If Gingrich's appearance in an ad with Pelosi means more conservatives will start paying serious attention to the issue, that's a good thing. It does NOT mean we have to accept his "solution."

To turn global warming into yet another excuse for tax cuts for the rich:

32. Good thing you didn't see the one with Al Sharpton and Pat Robertson, then.
How can Newt be a GW denier when he volunteered to be part of the campaign? He changed his mind.

http://news.muckety.com/2008/05/19/polar-opposites-join-forces-to-promote-awareness-of-climate-change/2891

“I am honored that Al Gore asked me to be a part of this campaign urging people to take care of the planet,” Robertson said on the Christian Broadcasting Network. “It’s just common sense that we ought to be good stewards of the environment, and do everything within our power to protect this fragile planet that we all live on,” according to an account on the wecansolveit.org web site.

House speaker Nancy Pelosi and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich appear in a similar commercial titled, “Speakers speak out on climate change.”

Using the U.S. Capitol as a backdrop for their ad, Pelosi, a liberal Democrat, and Gingrich, a conservative Republican, find common ground on this issue. “We don’t always see eye to eye, do we Newt?” says Pelosi. “No, but we do agree our country must take action to address climate change… if enough of us demand action from our leaders, we can spark the innovation we need,” responds Gingrich. Pelosi closes the ad with a pitch for viewers to visit wecansolveit.org saying “together we can do this.”

Here's the website for the Alliance for Climate Protection:

They are trying to immunize themselves on this issue:

Gingrich drops skepticism on global warming
But he and Kerry differ on solutions

...
