Obama increases Oregon delegate estimate following win

This would mean Obama picked up 46 delegates on Tuesday.

Obama increases Oregon delegate estimate following win

Posted by Betsy Hammond, The Oregonian May 21, 2008 16:16PM

The Oregonian's projections show Sen. Barack Obama likely to capture 32 Oregon delegates toward the Democratic presidential nomination. Sen. Hillary Clinton is likely to win 20 delegates.

Obama turned in a strong performance in Tuesday's Oregon primary, winning 58% of the vote. A strong preference among last-minute voters and overwhelming support in Benton County improved the Illinois senator's delegate performance.

The 32-20 margin among delegates is wider than The Oregonian had predicted on election night.

A higher victory margin in the Fourth U.S. Congressional District and a statewide vote-total increase by less than a one percentage point helped Obama score the additional two delegates.

The Democratic Party of Oregon will allocate delegates based on unofficial final vote tallies made later this week.

A candidate needs 2,025 delegates to win the Democratic presidential nomination. According to an estimate by The Oregonian and The Associated Press, Obama can count 1,963 delegates to Clinton's 1,777.

4. Something like that but there were more tallies
to be done at that time so with Guam in mind my son and I were waiting for a final number before we whooped it up over the phone.
