Am I the only one who flat out hates Bill now, but only dislikes Hillary?
Edited on Wed May-21-08 09:35 PM by sfam
Yes, I used to like both of them a lot, and would have been absolutely fine with Hillary as our nominee until March. But now, I really dislike Hillary, but I flat out hate listening to Bill.

Hillary at least does us the favor of at least attempting to lay out an argument for her position on the votes counting in Michigan and Florida. I find her rationales incredibly self serving and completely without merit, but this is beside the point - she at least goes through the motion.

Bill Clinton on the other hand gives us insane emotional bullshit about how the Republican party, who successfully did everything to STOP the vote count in the deciding contest for President, treats Florida's voters better than we do. But worse than this are the insane lies. From claiming he personally saw voter suppression in Nevada, to the completely false rationales about Hillary's sniper thing. He lies so convincingly and condescendingly - but they're stupid lies.

Its like he doesn't realize he's being recorded.

So in short, yeah, I find Hillary's tactics to change the goal post rather detestable, but at least she tries to put forward some semblance of a partially coherent position (I stress "partially"). Bill on the other hand just goes for the convincing lie.

I really do hate listening to him now...like I really hate it. And I really don't see that changing much in the future.

I am ashamed of both of them....

Neither of them has a coherent position, in my opinion!

They are making FOOLS of themselves now.

6. Opposite for me.
For me I excuse some of this as him defending his wife. I'm a reasonable person, but I can get pretty unreasonable when I feel my girl is being attacked. He's gone over the edge for sure, but he's not the one driving this thing onward.

The buck stops with Hillary and I find her behavior abhorrent. I wish she would just go away. Preferably back to Arkansas.

11. Hillary at least attempts to put forth an argument...for me...
that's probably why I can tolerate her. And truly, if Obama picks her for VP, I'll enthusiastically support her. But Bill on the other hand - perhaps it is a defending the wifey thing, but this isn't how it comes across to me. He's just spouting self-serving, bald-faced lies, and stupid lies at that.

8. I find as I've gotten older that I tend to pity people I once would have hated.
I can't really think of anyone, even Repubs, that I truly hate, though I joke about doing so from time to time. Hate seems too consuming to me now.

10. That's a good point. Perhaps my hate will transform into pity in the near future...
Its not the all-consuming type of personal hate, its more like while I hate everything about him right now, my response is just to remove him from my life but turning the channel when he's on, etc.

13. Most people mean it in a general sense, like you're doing.
And many say, "I hate..." such and such without really meaning it. Nothing really wrong with that. But some really do give in to true hate. I used to feel genuine hate and anger a lot when I was younger, and it made me do things I'm not especially proud of. It just doesn't seem worth it for my own sense of who I am anymore.

17. really your question is stated wrongly
everyone assumes the opposite of love is hate and vice versa

actually though the opposite of each is disinterest

i love something or i dont really have an interest
same for hate

16. Hillary has many negatives, but still...in the future we will remember her for...
breaking the glass ceiling. Her negative vibes will fade in time especially if Obama gets elected. Bill will still be remembered for being an unmitigated, lying asshole.

21. No, I hate them both equally.
 They earned it - I feel betrayed because "I literally adored" HRC in the 90s. I thought her up front comment about "not baking cookies was so cool" and I believed that she TRULY CARED about the American People. We live in the D.C. area and I'd quip to my toddler at the time, "Look honey, that's where The President lives with her husband Bill."

BUT NOW I feel so betrayed. I guess Bob Dylan's song, "Seeing the real you at last" is the most concise way of describing my sadness and disappointment. Until HRC is forced out of this race, I choose to hold on to my anger because I believe her and Bill are capable of ANYTHING in their craven quest for the WH.

Well, I thought that the rain would cool things down
But it looks like it don't.
I'd like to get you to change your mind
But it looks like you won't.

From now on I'll be busy,
Ain't goin' nowhere fast.
I'm just glad it's over
And I'm seeing the real you at last.

Well, didn't I risk my neck for you,
Didn't I take chances?
Didn't I rise above it all for you,
The most unfortunate circumstances?

Well, I have had some rotten nights,
Didn't think that they would pass.
I'm just thankful and grateful
To be seeing the real you at last.

I'm hungry and I'm irritable
And I'm tired of this bag of tricks.
At one time there was nothing wrong with me
That you could not fix.

Well, I sailed through the storm
Strapped to the mast,
But the time has come
And I'm seeing the real you at last.

When I met you, baby,
You didn't show no visible scars.
You could ride like Annie Oakley,
You could shoot like Belle Starr.

Well, I don't mind a reasonable amount of trouble,
Trouble always comes to pass
But all I care about now
Is that I'm seeing the real you at last.

Well, I'm gonna quit this baby talk now,
I guess I should have known.
I got troubles, I think maybe you got troubles,
I think maybe we'd better leave each other alone.

Whatever you gonna do,
Please do it fast.
I'm still trying to get used to
Seeing the real you at last.

23. no, I don't hate Bill (or Hillary)
I get a little heated on the subject and hate the particular things they do, but Bill is a chameleon: at his best, he's the Big Dog, taking on twerps like Chris Wallace, but at his worst, he's a huge jackass of a used car salesman.

Now Rush Limbaugh and Michael Savage, there's two people I really do hate.

Maybe those two should be used as a baseline for DU when you ask that question of "hating" Bill Clinton.

26. I used to be such a Clinton acolyte. It's hard to fathom sometimes.
I have turned my Bill Clinton as Jesus poster into a message board used with thumb tacks. It seems an appropriate use for it now. I hope she does the right thing because I'm not comfortable with hating them and, frankly, that's becoming more and more difficult.

27. I detest both of them
I am so disappointed in them. It's gotten to the point that I can't stand to see either one of them...it's just too sad. They both have the potential to do great things, but the longer this travesty lasts, the less able either one is going to be positioned to do anything but be a laughingstock. They have ceased to be agents of change and have become the roadblock. I wish they would just go away.
