McCain & Bush
I just don't understand this. Maybe someone can explain it to me like I'm a five year old.

Back in 2000, Bush's KGB freaks used lies and distortions to cost him the election.

It's no secret that since then McCain and Bush have been at odds.

McCain starts stumping for Bush (which I contributed to party loyalty)

The ad...I mean lie...goes on air and McCain expresses his disgust by it. Same creeps that went after him. He says the administration should condemn the add and they don't.

Now, he's with Bush going to Florida to campaign.

I just got one thing to say... :wtf:

Was there some back room deal going on? Bush: campaign for me and I'll give you one of my girls.

I don't get it. I respected McCain. Always have. But he lost me completely by going to Florida with the grub. :puke:

McCain, my trust and support from you is now gone. Completely. You'll never get it back again, you sell out.

Cyn

2. McCain cares about vet issues
So he defends Kerry, as a vet.

Other than that, he's your average POS Republican.

3. Vets
I know he's always been for the vets which is one of the reason's why I've always respected him since I'm a vet.

I know I'm not him, but, I would've told Bush that if he didn't condemn the ad, he'd break party lines and support Kerry. The very least he could've done was to not go to Florida unless Bush condemned it.

4. It's party loyalty.
Edited on Tue Aug-10-04 03:39 AM by Feanorcurufinwe
I think it will help us. It will remind undecideds that McCain is a hero, that Bush isn't, that Kerry is. It will remind them of the smear ad and the fact that McCain called it dishonorable and dishonest and that Bush hasn't condemned it. And Bush's base hates McCain almost as much as they hate Kerry so it will piss them off.

5. Party Loyalty
Would the consensus be that party loyalty is thicker than water when it comes to a presidential election?

I hate that. But I can't stand my freak of a sister-in-law either, so it makes sense, I guess.

6. Just my opinion, but I think McCain knows Bush is going to lose
& he wants to be there to pick up the pieces of his broken party.

Also, if you were McCain, how sweet would it be that the guy who screwed you, now calls on you for help?

Maureen Dowd (who knows McCain well) said he will campaign with Bush, but his heart will be with Kerry.

13. i also think his defense of Kerry means a lot more
when he is seen as backing bush. if he was supporting kerry people can jsut blow it off as ,"well of course he is defenidng kerry, he is a kerry supporter". but if he campaigns with bush AND defends kerry as he is doing then people think that really means something. and it sure doesn't hurt the kerry people to bring up mccain as much as they can to defend him.

also, remember the one group of people that was not influenced by the attack ads against mccain's service were the independents and the moderates. and these are the swing voters kerry needs.these are the people that mccain has the most support from and continues to. those who believed the attacks against mccain are those who will NEVER support kerry anyways. they are people who want to believe it rather than actually believing it.

9. Bedfellows
You know the saying about politics and bedfellows, but this just bugs me.

If Bush completely tanks on election day that leaves McCain in the cold, IMO. It could really hurt him politically, I think.

If Bush wins...I mean cheats...then McCain could get something out of that political mileage. It's got to be a biggie. I can't see him willingly doing it for nothing.

But I do wonder if he was strong-armed into somehow.

Hmmmmmmmmmm

10. It could work to our advantage, though
What if some local newsperson asks McCain and Bush about the Swift Boat ads? I am pretty sure McCain will denounce them again-but what will Chimp do?

12. Bush is taking a big risk
Campaigning with McCain.
McCain is likely to be asked by someone about the Swift Boat smear and he will undoubtedly restate his opinion and then Bush will have to either denounce it or fumble through some sort of bullshit non-answer.
