Poll question: How far do you expect Obama to go?
I'm confident he will end up with some sort of leadership position in the Senate, even if he doesn't get the top job.

2. There are a lot great people ahead of him in line for prresident.
He may get there eventually, but who knows? He's charisma in bucketsful, but I personally would love to see a Dennis Kucinich (not likely, I know) or a Henry Waxman, or even a Barbara Boxer as president first. They have put in a lot of time and effort and deserve it. Obama is yet to be elected, you know (though his prospects are very good.

I don't care if we have back-to-back black presidents until I die, or if we never have a black president in my lifetime. I realize that symbolically it would mean a lot to many people, but such symbolism does little for me as a citizen.

If you invest too much of your hopes in someone simply because of their race and their appeal, you can eventually end up with a Marion Barrry.

I have high hopes for Obama, may he grow to become our best president, or senate majority leader ever, but I always hope for the best man to win, even if it's a nebbish like Dennis.

3. I would be proud to have him the next President (after Kerry's 2 terms)
My fear is however that the press is building him up so they can tear him down later.

4. I feel that it is more likely...
that he will be VP to someone in 2012 (Edwards?), then President.

How old is he? He's fairly young, isn't he? Plenty of time.

9. Ditto, ditto and ditto
and until that day comes, which it certainly will, I'm just counting the days until he becomes Senate Majority Leader.

8. whatever road he ends up taking..
he'll be a force to be reckoned with. Quite possibly the first president, but I would guess he'll be a VP first. Either way, he's got my support
