Swooning for Kerry
Who saw that piece on Countdown?

New Republic guy said many in the audience are fainting at Kerry/Edwards rallies due to the heat/wait/crowds.

I love the image. Hoepfully no voters are really going down for good!

Also he pointed out: (of course saw this on DU first) that the press (oh what a shocker!) hasn't really reported the SIZE of the crowds and the waits. 5 hours or more, 20-25 thousand people.

We have a movement people. Swooning for Kerry coming to my town on Friday-unfortunately I just can't brave it with temps in the nineties and a small child. Fair weather Dem-no I wish I could be there!

1. I saw it and it was good. I liked it when he mentioned Vanessa Kerry
rushing into the crowd (med student) to help people who had collapsed at multiple rallies.

2. I would love to go too!
I have two young children and a husband who has the day off on Friday. I would love to go downtown to see Kerry, but they all want to go to the coast. :( We'll be there in spirit, right?

3. And I assume these crowds aren't having to sign loyalty oaths,
like the people at a certain other candidate's rallies are having to...

4. I wish I could go see him
I highly doubt he will be making any Rhode Island stops though! It is heartening to hear the numbers!

5. The guy from the New Republic who gave the report did his best to
make sure he was "unflattering" to Kerry.

"Folks are waiting 2-3 hours until John Kerry shows up" he said. He could have easily said "arrives" or another word which doesn't have the connotation of impatience on the part of the people waiting.

8. Let's face it--she has got to have pretty high standards!
She's wealthy, sexy, ultra-smart; she can have her pick of the cream of the crop.

7. Waited in line for nearly 3 hours with my son in tow yesterday.
Nearly 2 more hours before Senator Kerry showed up--and I LOVED every minute of it.

What's so bad about spending time with smart, interesting, funny, left-wingers (I met ZombyWoof in Flagstaff)? I met dozens of them last night, and I am SOOOO glad I talked myself into going!

There is something palpable in those crowds. Go to a rally if at all possible (and even bring the kids--my 7yo loved it, too); you will not regret it!

Eight thousand people who want their nation back?

I LOVED it!!!

10. Kerry is absolutely amazing!
The * people are spending so much time and money looking for anything they can use against Kerry. And all they can come up with is "The woman he talked about who has cancer and can't take sick leave out of fear of losing her health plan actually just wants to keep her sick days for later." With anyone else, I'm sure they would have been able to create several major scandals by now. But with Kerry, they're stumped! B-)

11. Keep the faith-Kick for Kerry
Some of us are having starry eyed moments, trying to believe in the good that those that are merely men can do.

I turn the corner this morning in the car and the sun shines like a glowing beacon of hope and I see a Kerry sign.

Or in the beautiful words of Barack Obama: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A19751-2004Jul27.html

America, tonight, if you feel the same energy that I do, if you feel the same urgency that I do, if you feel the same passion that I do, if you feel the same hopefulness that I do, if we do what we must do, then I have no doubt that all across the country, from Florida to Oregon, from Washington to Maine, the people will rise up in November, and John Kerry will be sworn in as president. And John Edwards will be sworn in as vice president. And this country will reclaim it's promise. And out of this long political darkness a brighter day will come.
