We make our decisions for the damnedest reasons. I will now support Barack Obama
The candidate never won me over. Truthfully, I just don't 'get' him. But he is Ted Kennedy's choice and now he's mine. I am rarely moved by endorsements. In fact, I can't recall the last time I was. So maybe this is a first for me.

I was most touched by Ted Sorensen's explanation, just a few minutes ago in an interview with Matthews, of why he and so many of the Kennedys chose to endorse Obama early and en masse. Maybe I was just vulnerable to the message, being as emotional as I am today with the news from Kennedy's doctors. Sorensen was upbeat, not maudlin. He spoke highly of Kennedy, of course. He spoke of the past, of which he was a large, albeit background, part, and spoke of the future. In his mind, that future includes Senator Obama.

Okay.

I'm on board.

I was fearful of going through this entire campaign disillusioned and uninvolved. I never had a horse in the race, pretty much from the start.

Now I do.

Thanks Ted.

I have a candidate now.

33. Sometimes it's a question of HQ...
sometimes it's a question of literal meaning - hence the occasional need for the sarc tag. Only by knowing that endarkenment is "one of us" can one discern the intent. If "endarkenment" is meant to be satirical or sarcastic, then I get it. I apologize for my density, if not for my intent.

I watched the early endorsements ( above and below public acknowledgment ) of so many of my respected democrats, and I began to watch and listen.

I bought his books, and got to understand that he isn't just making up this stuff for his campaign, he has believed it for years now.

13. It took me a while to warm to Obama, too,
after Biden dropped out. It was back and forth for me until the day of the California primary. I don't recall exactly what put me in Obama's camp, but I wasn't all that enthusiastic, just felt he was the better choice.

As I've come to listen to him and actually pay more attention, my admiration and comfort with him has grown. I now believe he really can do the job and do it well. I hope you're able to come to the same place.

I'm looking forward to seeing a clip of the Sorensen piece with Matthews. And I know it's comforting knowing that Teddy, whom we all admire so very much, feels Obama is our future.

35. I realized that the Senators, and the former candidates know Obama the best
So many senators and former candidates have indicated Obama is their choice. Many have indicated it is because he has something special. Leadership is like that. It's not rattling off policy wonk details. I have no doubt he also has wonk skilz.

POTUS is a bully pulpit and a veto pen. No one is going to fix anything without congress on Day One. No one can indicate exactly what a healthcare plan will end up being like.

40. Many of the people who have endorsed Obama say he has a once in a life time talent
The GOP understands how important charisma is and they fear that we finally got ours.

George Will may be partisan but he does write things that are true. He said Obama is our Reagan. And that means landslide.

18. I was late to support Barack too, my first choices being Kucinich and Edwards.
But then the Kennedy endorsements came, and I too was won over by them, and by watching Obama closely.
I worked for Robert Kenney in Oregon and California primaries, so I was especially moved by the Kennedy endorsements.

Obama really is running a different kind of campaign, and running it with a rare kind of grace & courage.
He's putting himself at great risk by doing so, and it's going to be an uphill struggle to win in Nov.

He really deserves and needs every Ameican's support right now to turn this nightmare around.

Big respect here for your willingness to remain open to listening, and being moved to clarity in your
decision.

When my candidate endorsed Obama last week, I pulled the bumper sticker my step daughter gave me out of the drawer and slapped it on the Jeep. It is displayed between the "Where the hell are we going and why am I in this handbasket" and "Republicans for Voldemort".

I'm sure that Obama would love it knowing a surly clown is behind him.

24. I too heard Sorenson's words, explaining how Barack is like Jack...
and how the Kennedy's are truly moved by Barack's ability to bring in young voters in numbers we haven't seen since Jack and Bobby. (just to recap for those who didn't hear it)

It was matter of fact and frankly moving. If I hadn't already been on board, it probably would've swayed me too!

Glad to have you on board!

I think that you'll like him more and more. That's what happened to me, who was initially very open to Hillary as my candidate. I just liked what he had to say and how he said much better. Plus, he truly was against the Iraq War......and I've always based a lot of my support on my candidates' ability to discern what is right and what is good. OBama made the right call on the war, and for me, that was an important facet as to why I support him.
