Edited on Sun May-18-08 02:34 PM by Poll_Blind
How will these people get their money? Are there other examples of vendors, etc. being stiffed by a primary/presidential campaign to such an extent?

Does her campaign file bankruptcy or something?

3. Her campaign is over $20 million in debt, and it took them awhile to admit that.
Remember, Terry McAuliffe claimed she raised $10 million in 24 hours, the day after Pennsylvania. That's either true, and they were far deeper in debt before, or false, and they're far deeper in debt now.

Any way you shake it, it's a problem. $11 million of the debt is what she and Bill loaned the campaign (as far as we know; it could be a greater amount by now).

4. And if she were the GE nominee how damn embarrassing would this be?
Also would be a huge media story if small vendors were banding together to sue her for payment. Then you'd also have vendors wanting cash up front and not extending credit.

Yeah she'd be ready on day one! :sarcasm:

...that a thread which had been viewed less than 300 times, NOT been recommended and only had a few replies and had been up less than an hour was picked up and produced into a video piece shown on air by CNN in some fashion or another.

11. this happens all the time, the bills will get paid
provided she drops out before the convention. Any money raised after a nominee has been chosen can't be used to pay of primary debts.

She has lots of time.

She'll drop out in June, the party will rally around her to pay off her debts.

(actually, what she does is she "suspends" her campaign so she can still raise money to pay her debts.)

18. 10-20 Million is a LOT of money. "All the time?" A lot of money that's supposed to come...
...from a nation of donors who already have a pretty good idea that there's no chance in hell Clinton's going to win. I just don't see people who are excited to step up and throw money into the pay-off-Clinton's debt fund.

I just don't see that. Can you help me out with other campaigns where a chunk of money this size has been paid off in a failed run?

27. Dodge the flak folks, I'd still like to know how these vendors are going to get paid and...
..if there has been historical precedence for this sort of thing- especially involving this much money.

Can a campaign file bankruptcy? Is the candidate themselves personally responsible for paying these bills?

So if they stop running for the nomination, the organization essentially dissolves, doesn't it?

All that work championing herself the Zena warrior princess of the white working class all the while she is stiffing small business owners of their hard earned money. I thought there were a couple of vendors in Ohio that already threaten to sue. I read it here a couple of months ago so maybe she already paid them off since law suites were coming. Maybe a google search will come up with some results.

49. Hillary's failing to pay all these vendors will burn many of her supporters.
It is standard practice for campaigns to do business with vendors associated with their contributors and supporters.

Because Hillary had a number of teacher organizations behind her, some of those teachers and administrators used their positions to get Hillary set up for appearances at schools. Her campaign ended up owing many school districts and colleges for the use of their facilities. Now, all those supporters of hers who used their insider positions to give credit to the Hillary campaign are looking very shabby. They gave away money belonging to their employers, and now the employer is stuck with the bill.

Hillary has been a complete disaster when it comes to handling money. She couldn't balance her personal checkbook, and her glaring ignorance about handling money is evident to all.
