not so fast...

    not so fast…

    Hillary’s voice is OUR voice,
and she’s speaking for all of us

We are the women of this nation. We are rich and poor, young and old, married with children, married without children, single moms, gay, straight, and widowed. We are every color. We are of every religion. We are from all political parties.

We love our country. Now more than ever, so much of what we cherish is at risk -- our homes and our health, our safety and our planet, our children and our values. We raise our voices, in one glorious, defiant chorus to tell the world that these times demand strength, courage and vision.

And that is why we stand united in our unwavering support of Hillary Clinton.

As this indefatigable woman campaigns, she speaks with our voice. She carries our hopes, dreams and aspirations with her and transforms them into policies that can make our nation great again.

We know that Hillary will not rest until every American has health insurance, every child can start school ready to learn, every young person has a chance to attend college, every worker will have a safe job at decent wages. She will not rest until our men and women in the military receive the care they deserve and American foreign policy is grounded in human rights and military strength.

We know this because we have seen her do it - - at home and around the world.

Women risked all they held dear to make this country great. They put their lives on the line in all our quests for justice - - from Abigail Adams to Sojourner Truth to Susan B. Anthony to Eleanor Roosevelt to Fannie Lou Hamer to Barbara Jordan to Ann Richards to Dolores Huerta. And now, Hillary.

We know that when women vote, Democrats win. Now it is the responsibility of our party to hear our voices and count all of our votes.

We want Hillary to stay in this race until every vote is cast, every vote is counted, and we know that our voices are heard.

This is a recreation by Maribelle of a full page ad in today’s USA Today, Friday, May 16, 2008. The original ad in the USA Today was Paid for by WomenCount PAC and not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee.

Look at that pretty rock star pic of Senator Clinton! We wouldn't want to have a photo of what the Senator actually looks like, would we? Everyone knows that people judge women based on what they look like.

Feminism? Hardly.

I've stayed away from all of this for the last 16 months, but this is an area I feel very strongly about, and the hypocrisy of this ad--to say nothing of the disingenuous hyperbole--is mind boggling!

The way it reads, they're saying that they are "the women of this nation".

I know, it's kind of a stretch to think that they're talking about all the women of the nation by saying they are 'the women of this nation'...

So tell me, if they are "The women of this nation", what nation are the rest of the women in this nation members of?

Calling a delusional person 'delusional' isn't a personal attack. A 'personal attack' would be something like;

"You are a fucking moron!"

Or

"You smell like moldy peanut butter!"

You guys have proven yourselves delusional during this primary, and I've cached the links to back it up. So when I call you 'delusional', not only is it an observation, but it's one I can back up.

I just hope you guys come back to your senses after the nominee (BHO) is confirmed. Reality will welcome you with open arms again.

Good luck.

Sadly, Hillary failed to run a competent campaign until it was too late. Now she has to use innuendoes and cliches to get her so-called message across.

I never really knew what her core message was. She was alway coopting someone else's message.

12. She doesn't speak for me
I respect and admire her and her supporters for their tenacity, but I object to this ad's claim that she speaks for all women. She does not speak to me, or my 50-year-old mother who hobbled around on a broken foot canvassing for Obama on the day of the Pennsylvania primary, or my 78-year-old grandmother who marched with MLK 45 years ago and would be just as proud to see an African American president in her lifetime as a woman and thinks Obama is the better candidate and would make the better president.

As a woman and a feminist, it really bothers me when Clinton and her supporters play the gender card and try to make me feel guilty for not supporting her. I will vote for her if she is the nominee, but I feel that her strategic use of feminism has in many ways set the womens' movement back.

18. So condescending
To assume that because she's a woman she speaks for all women or that women are going to vote for her simply because she's a woman. There is a lot of implicit sexism in this kind of thing.

You are the few women left who still support hillary... and your primary reason is her gender. Most women in this country do not support Hillary. She's not even getting the support of all the women in the party. Although women who think Obama is Muslim seem to support Hillary.

Why should anybody care about your sexist agenda?

If someone posted that Obama should win because he's a male... and when men vote democrats win, it would be locked.

As a Democrat (and a woman) I'm proud of the historic nature of Clinton's campaign. I'm also proud of the historic nature of Obama's.

But "all of us" is awfully presumptuous. Many women of this nation do stand in "unwavering support of Hillary Clinton" -- (maybe even most, although when you count republicans and apathetic non-voters, I doubt it). They are welcome to do so. But it certainly isn't "all."

Got gleaming chrome, reflecting steel, loaded, loaded
Ready to take on every deal, loaded, loaded
My pulse is racing, I'm hot to take
This motors revved up, fit to break

Living after midnight, rockin to the dawn
Lovin' 'til the morning, then I'm gone, I'm gone

I'm aiming for ya
I'm gonna floor ya
My bodys coming
All night long

The airs electric, sparkin power, loaded, loaded
I'm getting hotter by the hour, loaded, loaded
I set my sights and then home in
The joint starts flying when I begin

Living after midnight, rockin to the dawn

and everyone who runs (presumably) thinks that they can speak for those that they represent.

I think it's a great ad.

I've come to like Hillary a lot more as this campaign has gone on than I did before it started. I went to hear her speak, and I really liked what I heard. No, it wasn't in a big rockstar arena with padded seats, like the one Obama went to the next day. It was a warehouse down by the waterfront with no heat and no seats. But 5000 stood there for three hours and waited (it was a late-scheduled stop; she couldn't help being late) and it was worth it.

We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day
Just you and me

When you're down and out
There seems no hope at all
But if you just believe
There's no way we can fall
Well, well, well, well, let us realize
That a change will only come
When we stand together as one

We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives

125. FEC v Wisconsin Right to Life -- No candidate ads 30 days before a primary
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bipartisan_Campaign_Reform...

In June of 2007 the U.S. Supreme Court held, in Federal Election Commission v. Wisconsin Right to Life, Inc., that BCRA's limitations on corporate and labor union funding of broadcast ads mentioning a candidate within 30 days of a primary or caucus or 60 days of a general election are unconstitutional as applied to ads susceptible of a reasonable interpretation other than as an appeal to vote for or against a specific candidate. Some election law experts believe the new exception will render BCRA's "electioneering communication" provisions meaningless, while others believe the new exception is quite narrow. The Federal Election Commission's interpretation and application of the new exception during the 2008 election cycle will determine the true scope and impact of the Court's decision.

PACs are not tax exempt

This ad is a clear violation of law that, ironically, was decided by a decision against a Right to Life group.

137. There are 3 clear violations of campaign law
tax status is completely irrelevent

1) There is to be no connection between the 527 and a Candidates Organization. The ad specifically encourages people to contribute to Clinton's campaign

2) It is not an issue ad but an specifically connected to a candidacy.

3) There are no ads permitted 30 days before a primary.

who support her candidacy.

As for the minority who support Obama, so what? You've spoken your piece, we don't care what you think.

What a bizarre picture.

Is that a bomber jacket? it looks vaguely militaristic. I suppose that's to get the "commander in chief" point across. And the salute? O shades of third Reich. Say it ain't so -- Heil Hillary?

Maybe she's trying for American Idol, or is making her next appearance in a Russian disco?

I mean, it's hard enough to take American Enter-politics seriously, but this is really pushing the envelope.

And she knows it.

She's letting the clock run out and then she'll quit and endorse Obama.

The end.

161. How funny you don't realize what a sexist thing that is to say.
What you're really saying;
"The party should support her because she's a female candidate for President."

It's kinda' sad that you don't even hear yourself.

Meanwhile, I'm quite certain that the party;

a) Would support the strongest candidate whether they are female or not.
b) Would have supported Clinton if Obama hadn't run.

Now, since you can't see it, let me explain to you why your statement is entirely sexist;

If I said; "It's too bad you're not progressive enough to support a black candidate for President.", would that be fair of me to say?

Try real hard to actually answer that. I know you won't though.

164. Yeah, you keep telling yourself it's ALL because she's a woman.
It's a convenient excuse for so many to sweep over the fact that she's been a lousy candidate and has run a nasty campaign. Oh, and she voted for the war and aligned herself with McCain.

Signed, A Woman

160. If it makes Hillary and her supporters feel better that she didn't get the nomination
because she's a woman, then you all can go on thinking that.
Also, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Hillary for speaking up for Obama yesterday. If only she had behaved like that through her whole campaign then, maybe she would have gotten this women's vote in the primary.

It shows dedication of the PAC women count. Its a positive ad. I wish there had been more of these during the course of the primary. We may have accomplished more for the democratic party had the primary followed this positive note. I hope that once all is said and done they will show the same emphatic support of the democratic nominee.
