and they are still around. There has to be some leeway. You can't raise Obama to a level over that of Gore or Kerry. I believe there were people here in 2004 who wrote in Kucinich, too, and they weren't tombstoned for it.

It's one thing if people are actively working to destroy a candidate, but it's quite another to completely stifle discourse. A lot of people have said things about Reid and Pelosi, too, and not gotten kicked off the board for it.

My home is Louisiana, and I'm temporarily in Bush country. There is NO worse state for a Democrat to be in than rural Texas. I've bought Obama gear but after seeing some pictures of vehicles vandalized for displaying bumper stickers 'n such, I'm VERY reluctant to put mine on my car so I tossed it on the inside dash, and have since ordered a removable magnet. They can't throw eggs at me as I drive down the road. (well I guess they could try, but they would be eating my Obama flavored dust...moving target 'n all that jazz.) :P

I do enjoy this place a great deal, even the "heated arguments" going on because they give me a reason to look at my perceptions from a different angle sometimes.

part of that spending was a $50 donation to Obama and $35 to join the Sierra Club. I just today found a credit card bill I forgot to pay so I will probably get dinged with a late fee (and finance charges). Payday's not for another week.

Never mind that I have $2280 in savings and $2600 in CDs. I haven't been able to save any money in at least a couple of months. I donate once a year to maintain my star. I hope that's enough.

I donated in February and a funny thing happened. I got into an exchange with an Obama supporter; a non-member to whom many, many hearts (like a dozen or more) had been donated. Another Obama supporter popped in and pointed out the disparity of her many to my few.

To put it another way: I had hopes that more people here would see it as being in their interest to allow fellow members to freely discuss various candidates' strengths and weaknesses without resorting to personal attacks, strategic flame-fests and intimidation tactics to quash opinions they don't like.
