I am not a great researcher and this is a difficult one, since none of them were in the Congress at the time. But as public figures there's a very good chance that they DID have some kind of a position on the Iraq War Resolution (I just found out that Webb opposed the resolution at the time). If they opposed the IWR at the time that VASTLY strengthens my inclination to see them as VP on the ticket.

1. Well, you said it yourself.
They were not in Congress then. So they may not have a public position on it.

3. Schweitzer was opposed to it.
Don't know about the others. Does someone have a link to Schweitzers bio? I know you can google him. Gov. Montana.

4. Edwards voted for it - even authored a portion of the Patriot Act
He supports public campaign financing and that's why I supported him in '04, despite the IWV.

Napolitano ran on Public Campaign Financing in AZ, and that's why I like her, even though I'm told she's DLC.

That's the symbiosis we have to crush if we're going to restore representative government... corporate lobbyism feeding campaigns.

So, if we're going to let them slide on being wrong on the IWV, THAT is the one reason, for me, at least.

5. Sebelius has been vocally against the war at the same time that she’s sparred with the Bush Admins
To ensure that the Kansas soldiers on the ground have the necessary equipment and supplies to ensure their safety. Pro-troops, anti-war. Sounds great to me.

6. OK so I have answers for Sebelius and Schweitzer (both opposed IWR) but not Napolitano
To my thinking, that provides us with a list of at least 1/2 dozen strong possibilities who opposed the IWR, including in particular Stabenow, Boxer, & Sebelius -- all excellent choices for a female running mate, and all of whom would noticeably boost Obama's chances without bringing on any negative baggage that I KNOW about.

Then there's Webb, Feingold, Schweitzer and I think Kaine.

I am curious about Napolitano, and what other women are seriously within the range of consideration, IN PARTICULAR WHO NEVER SUPPORTED THE IRAQ WAR RESOLUTION.

Another thing we have to look at are the issues of 'baggage', resume, electoral impact etc.

I REALLY DO NOT want to see Hillary and her supporters force Obama to pick her as a running mate -- increasing McCain's chances unnecessarily.
