Obama and Richardson dream ticket. Edwards attorney General.
Richardson and Obama have a rapport that is easily seen. they look natural and comfortable with each other. They both have a great sense of humor and irony, and Richardson knows the players. Hillary needs to go back to the Senate and start being a senator ABSENT her presidential ambitions. Maybe she can start getting back to her roots and actually achieve something in the Senate besides Lieberman type pandering and acting tough.

1. Disagree
After watching Richardsons' poor performance on Larry King with James Carville, I think he'd be a poor choice.

2. Richardson is almost definently not going to happen
Look at how people's heads are exploding over Obama and the White vote!

3. I disagree also.
I'm still pissed at Richardson for thinking that the Great Lakes are "awash in water" and that a national water policy should somehow siphon it off to water, presumably, golf courses in the Southwest. I understand that the VP candidate will most likely be debating someone like Huckabee or Romney who have equally goofy ideas, but I don't think Richardson is a good choice. And he couldn't scamper out of that debate with Carville quickly enough.

5. He doesn't bring much to the ticket
foreign policy experience yes, more of the latino vote maybe (McCain seems to be making some inroads there) but i dont see him contributing to any key swing states.

8. He picks up alot of the south west which is important in the 50 state
Edited on Wed May-14-08 07:07 PM by Boz
You have to remember and measure VP against the 50 state plan not the old Big State method

11. Understandable
My point being that with the proper VP pick, all great lake states are more solidly in Obamas camp, and while the southwest is important, it still doesnt command the amount of EC votes that the great lakes area does.

12. I agree they are in play but thats a ground game not a VP pick that will solve that
It is sales not endorsement, people wont move in those states because of someone anyone thinks so, they will have to be sold.

So the VP isnt in play there like it is in the SouthWest, where they will move because they aren't as entrenched and do move by endorsement.

9. Nope. Richardson will be State. Janet Napolitano for VP. You can take it to the bank.
Goread up on Janet Napolitano at Wikipeda. Look at some video of her on YouTube. That ticket will crush whatever McCain and the GOP can come up. She is the perfect complement to Obama and a future president in her own right.

10. Janet is something else....
that will cut McCain's support in AZ. She is VERY well liked-even by GOP leaning folks in AZ. Even my conservative Mom likes her immensely.

14. Im afraid there isnt enough time, shes awsome for us, but not alot of people in the real world know
her enough.

This choice has to be a known public brand with name recognition.

18. This doesn't worry me at all
Obama has the brand thing squared away. His great art is to exemplify a way of doing business and the wisdom to see and share the big picture. He will be very much a world/cosntitutional president if elected. Napolitano is a great can-do person that balances his slimmer domestic resume, the first mate to his captain. She has huge political and policy skills, just as good a communicator, and very very easy for 'ordinary' folk to identify with across party lines.

Put her on the national stage and she sells herself very easily. No baggage, no preconceptions, just an outstanding track record and a personality that clicks instantly.

Check out some congressional testimony (where she manages to be serious not not boring) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgGoqIBZASI
and one of her 2006 campaign commercials http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8yipI0mcWU8&feature=related
and arguing with a GOPer about immigration on CNN: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7mmZthlrMI&feature=related

Total straight talker who has no problem taking the fight to the GOP.

16. I want Edwards as Attorney General --- busting up and prosecuting monopolies
like Theodore Roosevelt.

I want Richards as Dep't of Peace (if Kucinnch's idea gains steam)/Dep't of State (if he can't make peace work). I'd like to see Chuck Hagel-R (I know its an anathema) as VP.

NOTE: I'd like Powell to be cleared of any war crimes possibilities as torturer in chief before he is brought into Obama's White House.

I'd also like a few special prosecutors appointed within the first 90 days to check for any allegations of war crimes throughout the Bush presidency and move on it before a foreign nation takes matters into their own hands.

I'd like Elizabeth Edwards to come in (if she feels well enough) to Dept of HHS and get to work on making health care work.

I still like Madeline Albright and some of the Clinton administration's best and brightest.

IF ONLY we could get out of the primary season so we can focus on all of McCain's missteps and flipping out episodes.

22. Janet Napolitano sounds interesting, I don't know her. A woman who is qualified to
work up to the presidency would be an awesome gift to the 60 year old women who are in despair of ever seeing it in their lifetimes. I know everyone plays the chess game of which state a VP is from or the "soldier" angle which worked horribly for Kerry, but I like the actual rapport that Richardson has with Obama. I don't think Edwards and Obama actually like each other much. It could be my imagination, but after painting portraits I am pretty good at faces. Their faces are frozen and fake around each other, but not so with Richardson and Obama. To me it seems that having a VP with a similar vision of policy would be the most important thing. I am going to read up on Napoltano because that is intriguing.
