small point that many may have not noticed
Edited on Tue May-13-08 10:28 PM by nadinbrzezinski
Mac admitted tonight on MSNBC that under the best of cases they can only get within 100 delegates of Obama

he did that on the air... and that is a little important (as in huge)

It might be a signal that the end is coming for those of us who are attuned to them whistles

That said, for all of you going nuts over Macauliffe "irrational" ranting on the teeveee.... he is doing his damn job...

And doing it well... even if I find it comical... but I find campaign managers comical regardless of who is the candidate... since we expect to see them exaggerate. It is their job.

For those of you for whom this is YOUR first rodeo... NO campaign will give up and let you know about this, until well, they give up and tell you this. This is basic in politics... I mean if she came today and told you that. how many donations do you expect to see? Damn I am cynical... or just been around long enough to know how this works.

So I do expect the Campaign to tell us yes they can win until the last possible second. THAT IS JUST THE WAY IT IS... is this clear enough now? And until they do, the last of the Clinton Supporters here will accept what has occurred.

And if any of you is having a problem with this... turn the teeevee off, and take a long walk AWAY from DU or any other political blog

Oh and for team hillary, congrats on an expected win. Remember, until this reaches 75%, this is called a pyrrhic victory. And so far we are at 66-27 with 69% reporting... I somehow doubt we will see 75%

Edit for clarity

1. The plan is very clear to me. They are going to go after Obama's pledged Delgates
Watch and See. Whether it works, remains to be seen

2. If they do that, then you may see a brokered convention
if they do that... we already lost in november given the Democratic record of fought over campaigns

8. Recently a pledged Clinton delegate
Claimed he was going to vote for Obama at the convention, and urge others to also. I don't remember what state, it was somewhere in the Northeast. I think Hilary is losing that edge too, if she ever had it. Her real only hope is to get every remaining Superdelegate.

11. And the only way to do that is to get to 75%
It will not get there... with as few in the percentage as we have lest to be counted

3. I've also notice they keep talking about 3 more weeks
or taking the primary through early June instead of saying they will take it all the way to the convention. (The talking heads on TV anyway)

5. That is because of what Mac said
truthfully it was funny to watch... he was attacking the talking heads for declaring this over (damn math I know) and tweety trying to explain to him that they'd have far more fun if this went all the way to Denver

It was a fine piece of political theater... but full of whistles... mostly it looked more like they were talking to each other for the benefit of the rest of us

This is goong to the end game... soon

4. who knows
what the hell their plans are? i've quit worrying. half of her top surrogates are so full of spin that they've become delusional.

6. They are not delusional, that's their job
All these people KNOW how to do it, and they know the real numbers

A lot of the spin is not meant for those who've done the math or committed to the other guy... but for their base

And right now is about money

10. maybe not 75%, but Obama apparently lost in every single county..
http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/primaries/results/county/#WVDEMMAPprimary

They don't even have Obamas name on the color key, because she took the entire state! I doubt this will change anything, but in a year when they're talking about the rise and fall of Obama, Clintons 'every county win' in West Virginia is bound to be mentioned as a warning sign the party should have noticed.

12. I know that, but look at the definition of pyrrhic victory
Edited on Tue May-13-08 11:02 PM by nadinbrzezinski
it falls in that category

A couple of the places they got over it... one district it is 80-20 and that is what they needed in the whole state

Sorry, I am one of those people looking at the process without marriage to any particular candidate since mine walked a while ago

That said, mathematically Obama has it... and I will line behind whoever wins it... in November, and mathematically he has

Also it looks to me that this year will be full of more firsts

Not only the first viable woman and African American, but I think the Southern Strategy will not be the way to win this year

14. That is what my ear attuned to the whistle is telling me
she also said in her speech that she will support the candidate and run for them ...

Whistles, now they are coming from WITHIN the campaign. They are measured and they are careful, but that is what is going on

17. yeah. i think shes gotta ease into it, so her supporters dont reject her outright
that way she can get them to support obama later on.

Yep, it is over...

By the way, when she said that she will work for the democratic nominee, on rehearing the speech, I went... damn... did she just concede without conceding? That line has been there since last week
