Why blue collar white voters don't vote for Obama ?
The media keeps asking this question ... like they really don't know what the
reason is... and all the "eggsperts" they ask pretend that they really don't understand it..

It is very simple... They won't vote for Obama because he is BLACK...

Why the fuck won't they just say it !!

If you do then I would say you need to re-evaluate your own brand of racism.

Oh, yes, except the ones who voted for Obama. Those ones are the good ones. The rest are just a bunch of Racists.

Is that REALLY what you are trying to say? I want to be clear and make sure I am not mistaking your view before I rid my screen of you.

Edited on Mon May-12-08 10:09 AM by Marrah_G
You are saying they all are.

You find Bigots in every group.

People everywhere have prejudices. Yes they are wrong.

But for you to label a huge portion of Americans as racist just because they do not support your candidate is very, very wrong.

The majority of Democrats will vote for Obama in November. The Majority of those voters are both white and middle class.

You are insulting, without reason, a big chunk of the votes we need in November.

Why do you see nothing wrong with that?

If you are labeling people because of their skin color, yes, that is racist behavior.

It does not belong on DU.

Either way, I'm done with coddling her type.

There are racists in this country. Most of whom will not vote for Barack Obama. Some of whom are blue collar. Some of whom are voting for Hillary Clinton right now. Ergo, some of (who are we kidding probably a LOT of) Hillary Clinton's blue collar white supporters are racist.

As well as doing it in my own state, I can tell you there are a lot of uneducated racists in this country. Educated ones too.

Oh, and it's real cute how you parse your words: "..."blue collar workers who did not vote for Obama..."

Let's talk about the ones who WON'T vote for Obama, shall we? Many of whom are voting for Hillary Clinton right now. Many of whom are listening to the dog whistles of Hillary and Bill.

Again, I'm done coddling people in willful denial. THAT'S what has no place on DU.

15. The 'media' has been having...
a lollapalooza over race for this entire campaign season. It is not difficult at all to understand what Pat Buchanan means by the choice of words he uses when describing Obama's problem with the white vote. It is unfortunate that so many people give credence to what the cable talks shows have to say. Every day the idea is reinforced that this country is so racially divided that Senator Obama is "unelectable". And the only group that has been touted as not voting for Senator Obama is the blue collar white uneducated voter. It is what it is.

9. Thing is
Many "blue collar" workers have already voted for him, that's something that gets overlooked.

I hear the BS that hispanics and Blue collar workers won't vote for him, that they support Hillary. Well I imagine many do, but not all. In Washington state, every county went for Obama. My son is in 8th grade, and his school is over 65% hispanic. He and his friends are all for Obama. Now I know that kids this young can not vote, but they get their information from their parents, and pick up on what their parents are saying at home, and it looks to me like their parents are supporting Obama.

The county I live in is not one of the "elite" areas of the state where there is a starbucks on every corner. Education levels are mostly high school, and yet it went for Obama, just like many other counties with the same kind of background.

When the race comes down to Obama and McCain, the vast majority of democrats will vote for Obama. Sure there will be some that are so upset that Hillary did not get the nomination, but the majority will realize that if the don't vote for the democrat, they will be seeing more of the same crap Bush has given us, and that is unacceptable.

Were they racist a year ago when Hillary Clinton was polling more than 20 points ahead of Obama with black voters?

16. I'm getting so tired of this talking point
if someone won't vote for a black man they're racist. With that ground breaking logic should I assume that alot of Obama supporters are sexists? Of course not. I think it's funny how unifying everyone claims Obama is and how he will bring a new kind of politics, his supporters, however, just can't compute someone not bowing down to worship him so they explain with "Ah, it's not that some people really don't like Obama...they're just typical white people...ya know, racists."

18. They won't say it (a) because they're cowards, and (b)
because to say it would be to destroy one of the foundation blocks keeping racism in business: that it's only "a few bad apples" who are racist.

As long as white folks can say to other white folks that it's only a few bad apples, they can get away with calling black folks "oversensitive", and cry about reverse racism.

If it ever gets out that it's a lot more than just "a few", then the whole game is lost.

It's funny because everyone *knows* it's a lot more than just "a few", but as long as no one *admits* it, the game is still on.

21. and it has nothing to do with working
It's not WORKING class whites that are the problem, it's racist whites, most of whom are old. The term "working" class is a misnomer based upon the level of income. Many of the people to whom they refer aren't working at all, but are retired.

If they're drawing Social Security and they're white, they're probably not voting Obama.

If they'd just say Old White Racists, that would be fine. Work ain't got nuttin' to do with it.

I think he will get at least as many blue collar voters if Kerry did, if not more. Clinton is not only the establishment candidate but she has a far more famous name than the typical establishment candidates. Blue collar voters of all races tend to go for the establishment candidate.

Racist blue collar voters have been voting Republican for decades now and they will continue to do so this election even if Hillary Clinton were to somehow get the nomination. Hillary probably gets some of them in the primaries from operation chaos.

Hell, my black second husband's mother was (for whatever reason) predjudiced against Haitians. Gods know why.

Predudice and racism come in all flavors.

Saying ALL white working folk are racist IS racist, because you're lumping together people who have nothing in common but skin, and to get down to it, it ain't true.

And to lay it all on the 'working' class is classist as well.

DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY..

right now we still have TWO to choose from (still IN the race)

If Clinton had dropped out in Feb when she LOST, more would be voting for Obama NOW...black or NOT black..

In the fall, they may TELL their neighbors they would NEVER vote for a black man, but if they are democrats, they will probably vote for him anyway..or they may stay home..

If they are wishywashy racists, they may vote for mccain, but my guess is that most will vote a straight ticket and tell their neighbors they did not vote for the "black guy" :)
