20 to 25,000 attend Grand Rapids Kerry Rally!!!!
I just got back from Grand Rapids and all I can say is WOW!!! Over 20,000 supporters of John Kerry showed up to root him on. Teresa Heinz Kerry also spoke.... to a very very appreciative crowd....

A funny moment... T.H.K. was thanking Michigan... over and over as the crowd noise slowly subsided... just as it got quiet enough to have everyone hear... a man from the audience yelled..."Tell bush to shove it".... EVERYONE just started laughing and T.H.K... gave a sly eyed look and said "Thank You Michigan". It was great..

All in all a fabulous turn out for our next President.

4. He was going to be here today with Kerry... but
he went to Florida instead. In exchange T.H.K. spoke for about 15 to 20 minutes before John did... Even though I wanted to hear Edwards --I think it was more than a fair trade...:-)

3. Did you take pictures?
Local media is down-playing it to "thousands" or 5,000.

Looks like a huge crowd!

Carl Levin said it was the biggest gathering for ANY politician in Grand Rapids!

5. Screw the media...
Try as they might to downplay the popular support, they are powerless to stop us!

8. I am getting a strong sense of deja vu
The media did the same thing during the peace marches and downplayed the numbers.

10. Live reporting had the 20,000 estimate.
Evening news is attempting to re-write it.

(They are consistent with only about "a dozen" protesters!)

Is this happening elsewhere, too?

17. Not as bad as I thought they'd be.
My mom watches them. Everytime I'm visiting, I am just so surprised how many times the on-air personalities can say "family" in a 30 minute newscast.

Not that I have anything against families, but geesh, a lot of people are either single or without kids in the house. I always thought that 'ZZM didn't care if I watched their channel or not. If mom wasn't around, I'd turn to Cadillac or Traverse City channels. They seem to be less family-obsessed.

11. I'm from W. Michigan originally and visit there frequently.
This is truly astonishing! Betsy De Vos and that evil Postumous (or however his name is spelled) must be in huge hissy fits. I love it!

I wonder from how far away people came?

There are lots of Dems in neighboring Muskegon, Lansing and Kalamazoo.

There are also a lot of folks from the Lake Michigan shoreline and the beautiful woods, lakes and streams country up north who are really pissed with some of *'s environmental roll-backs. It took a lot to start the clean up of some really beautiful areas and no one wants to back-pedal.

Go West Michigan!
