California voters would switch to Obama now
Another great big ole state for Obama. Obama has picked up 16 points in California since it's primary.

"The big state gave Clinton a ten-point victory in its primary. A new SUSA poll gives Obama a 6 point edge. When you look at the demographic date, you find that the black vote hasn't changed much, unlike in other states. And Latino support for Clinton has dropped, but Obama hasn't managed to gain. White males have moved decisively to Obama but the biggest swing appears among Asian-Americans. The Asian vote has gone from 71 - 25 for Clinton to 54 - 37 for Obama."

1. Clinton won by eight, not ten... lots of late counting tightened up the margin

2. I'm happy...I've been working hard to sell him to Asian-Americans
(I live in the largest As-Am neighborhood in SF, a city where As-Ams are the majority demographic). I wish that a lot more Latinos here would consider that after begging President Clinton to do something about immigration, he basically just put the issue on the back burner.

4. But...but I thought White America now had "buyer's remorse" for Obama!
I guess none of the White people in California are the "hard-working" type, eh?

Especially my brother-in-law (every morning he has a board meeting)(that's not him - the image is from Maldive's Surfing - but you get the idea). Lots of BOARD MEETINGS.

7. Latinos won't go for Obama
Most of them hate blacks even more than they hate "gringos". Let 'em all keep their noses up HRC's butt, while all the rest of us look past color and focus on the more important goal of making sure McCain doesn't become President.

interesting - Welcome aboard fellow Asians for Obama, and Latinos for Obama, from the multiracial Otohara family.

11. I'm very glad to hear this! Thanks!
CA's primary was just a tad too early. Clinton's name was well-known, and probably associated with the big tech boom in a lot of peoples' minds. Edwards had only just dropped out, days before the CA primary. My family was voting for Edwards, because he had strongly disavowed his war vote, and had made some very strong points about corporate power and especially corporate media monopolies. Obama seemed weaker on the corporate issues, and actually less anti-war than Edwards was at that point. But he dropped out. And I remember quickly calling my family--with only a day or so left before they had to mail their absentee ballots--and apprising them that Edwards had dropped out, and suggesting they vote for Obama. Obama hadn't had time to get very known here. I voted for him, and against Clinton, on the war issue. He was the only one with any chance, who had been against it. And I figured he would be next to leave the race, and we would be left with the choice, in November, of two pro-war candidates. It seems that Clinton's strategy was to wrap the nomination up early, with all the money she had, and the aura of "inevitability" she had created. CA succumbed to this. If the war issue had been clearer--if there had been time to make it clearer--it probably would have gone differently. Also, most of the Edwards votes would have gone to Obama, but--as my story illustrates--many people hadn't heard that Edwards was out of the race. I was able to save my family from wasting their vote. A lot of others were not so lucky. As I recall, non-candidate Edwards got 10% of the vote. Figure most of that would have gone to Obama, and you have these current poll stat.
