1. phrigndumass's definition here:
Edited on Fri May-09-08 09:41 PM by HawkeyeX
The “Huckabee Index” is the number of any combination of superdelegates and convention/caucus delegates that the Obama campaign needs (or the Clinton campaign loses) to make it mathematically impossible for the Clinton campaign to win the nomination, based on current delegate count and polls for upcoming contests. (Disclaimer: This is meant to poke fun at Mike Huckabee, not Hillary Clinton)

10. Because Huckabee also stayed in the race long past the point of viability
Also, I think he called it that because it's kind of catchy, don't you think? :D

21. But Hillary is redefining what the vanishing point of viability is
In 2012 this should be known as the Clinton Index. At least Huckabee could face reality and got out, though he was past his "sell by" date. Hillary is way, way, way past that date and now her candidacy just smells like rotting fish.

17. Hi Liz ... Both candidates have a Huckabee Index
The confusion is because Senator Clinton has reached hers first, therefore some believe the term to be a slam aimed at her.

This chart is from last week, and had been posted in this forum:

Hope this helps!

based on current pledged delegate count, SD endorsements and future polls.

4. It's the number of super delegates
Edited on Fri May-09-08 09:42 PM by Jake3463
that need to endorse Obama before Hillary would need to get over 100% of the remaining superdelgates to win the nomination.

I think its at 8.

9. It's obviously intended as an insult to both Huckabee and Clinton.

15. Its only an insult to the person who persists in a campaign past the point where it cannot
be won. Obama also has a 'Huckabee' point but his is a little bit farther away and he almost certainly isn't going to reach it unless they start 'rounding' up the numbers incorrectly and he 'wipes out'.

16. It isn't an insult at all, it is an index.
It certainly is not insulting to Clinton, unless you consider mentioning that her campaign has reached mathematical non-viability an insult. At worst it is mildly insulting to Huckabee - but he also was well aware that his campaign was no longer viable. He was organizing for 2012. Using a current failed campaign as an organizing tool for the next election cycle makes a lot of sense actually and might explain what Clinton is up to.

7. It is phrigndumass' patented term in THE MATH
In essence, it is the number of super delegates Obama needs to get to keep Clinton from reaching 2025. It's now down to 8, as per this thread tonite.
See his journal for details.
