2. had anybody outside IL heard of him until the 2004 convention?
how many copies of his books sold before then?

what else do I need to know? how many other parts of himself is he going to deny? where is the white part of his family in all his campaigning? and why did he throw his friend, mentor and spiritual advisor under the bus, rather than acknowledge that what the good rev has been saying for all his years as a pastor is what many blacks feel?

5. so because someone is not Mr Popularity, he is not worthy?????
And you are prevented from reading his book and looking at his PUBLIC RECORD in the Illinois State Senate???

By that logic, maybe Jay Leno or Howard Stern is better qualified.

7. I am simply answering your question. sorry you cannot comprehend that
I know his very thin record in IL, and his two books haven't impressed me.

not everybody sees him the same way you do. I have a great many concerns about him, despite the view of many here on DU that he is just about the greatest thing to hit politics.

and guess what? I am entitled to my views, just as his supporters are.

11. Let me answer this in a historical way
what you just wrote, I could have written about JFK in 1959, or 1960

In fact Senator Kennedy wrote ONLY ONE book...

Now do read this

14. Kennedy
had been a Senator for 7 years, and a representative for 6 years when he ran.

15. do we learn something different about a person depending on which Senate they are in?
I mean if he votes on taxes in a state does it say something different then if he votes on taxes in the US Senate?

20. Yes, they're different
for instance, we're told his "present" votes on choice issues is perfectly appropriate for the Illinois Legislature.

Plus, state legislatures deal with state issues - the US congress deals with national issues. And a state legislator isn't exactly in the national spotlight.

12. bullshit trollshit
He talks about his family in EVERY stump speech - all sides of his family. It's one of this primary talking points.

And all the hillbots were HOWLING for him to separate himself from his pastor - now you use that separation as a talking point AGAINST him? Damned if you do - damned if you don't. In any case he very reluctantly severed those ties, which had been fraying for a very long time.

Got any more slanders?

3. Thin resume for the presidency -short and undistinguished career in the Senate
Edited on Fri May-09-08 02:24 PM by depakid
that's the line you'll hear from now until November in he gets the nod -and there's some truth to that.

4. He has a short history
on the national stage. There's no denying that.

The big problem is going to be when his more rabid supporters here get to know him better and learn he's... surprise! a politician! Right now you're in the swoon-stage of a love affair, but that doesn't last forever. He's going to let you down. He's going to make compromises that piss you off.

He just hasn't had much of a chance to piss you off yet. Clinton's had 16 years to do it.

He was still a big fish in a little pond until this race put him in the national limelight.

18. And Jimmy Carter in 1976.....
But they were both young Governors with a track record of running a state. That's pretty hefty public experience.
