Why is that even a consideration? Asking the question "when will there be a woman president?" implies that being a woman has something to do with whether a person would make a good president or not.

Yes there is probably some pride in voting for Obama, but he earned their votes. He did not get them merely by virtue of the fact that he was black. Hillary has pushed away the black voters by not so subtly proclaiming that a black man will never become president. Why would they vote for her after that? OTOH, Obama has been completely respectful to Clinton and to women in general. It's not the same thing at all.

Every woman candidate before her was treated like a joke. The only reason Hillary wasn't was because she had the "establishment" behind her (at least at first) and could essentially run on the record of the only successful Dem president of the last 40 years. We'll see how the next woman who runs is treated, but I'm not optimistic that Hillary's candidacy really changed anything for *other* women candidates who don't have her advantages. My guess is, the MSM will go back to patting female candidates on the head with an "awww, isn't she cute" meme.

We'll see. I'd love to be wrong, but I don't think so.
