Okay, hear me out.

If Hillary **really** wanted to burn Obama, she'd drop out now. West Virginia AND Kentucky would BOTH still vote for her overwhelmingly, and make a whole new media narrative negative to Obama.

By hanging in there, she's providing cover for Obama, while also allowing her campaign (and all the people who have put time and money into it) to go out with some dignity.

FACT: Obama is the nominee.

And since we know that, let the Hillary campaign enjoy West Virginia and Kentucky. It changes nothing, and if we are supportive, MAYBE we'll start building bridges.

I know a lot of us have been drowning in schadenfreude, but that time needs to end. Lets move forward, together.

1. I agree -- IF she drops the "white workers" theme and goes after McCain
instead of sniping at Obama.

3. You caught the one fly in the ointment.
If she was attacking McCain exclusively, of course, this would make a lot more sense.

I expect the tone to change.

2. I feel the same way
It would look pretty bad if Obama got trounced in WV and KY after she dropped out.

I say let her stay until the end. There's only a few weeks left, and perhaps it will allow her to go out on a high note, which would be best for everyone involved. Let her bow out gracefully.

4. Why would she want to *burn him* in the long run? do you guys not get the big picture around here?
When she drops out, she's going to be behind Obama 100%.

5. I was saying that she's **not** burning him.
The option is there, she isn't taking it.

And I'm willing to take her at her word about supporting Obama in the general. I don't think she has any reason to be dishonest about that.

8. Because she wants the opportunity to run in 2012... if Obama wins, she cant until 2016

It's that simple.

She *NEEDS* McCain to beat Obama, to open the door for her in 2012. Because she won't win the nomination over a sitting President, should Obama win in 2008 and run for re-election in 2012.

not a chance. this is her (and his, by the way) one shot. you don't get to run twice anymore. this is such a pathetic line feeding into the whole 'that uppity bitch will do anything to be President' meme, and yet has absolutely no grounding in reality.

in fact, if she wants to run in 2012, as you seem to believe, her best option is for Obama to WIN and fail, then take him out in the primaries.

10. You don't get to run twice anymore? Hello?!?! This is McCain's second run...

McCain: Came in second in his party primaries in 2000.... nominee in 2008.

Hillary: Came in second in her party primaries 2008.... ??????

Are you really that dense?

Gore ran for the second time in 2000. Dole ran for the second time in 1996. Bush Sr. ran for the second time in 1988. Reagan ran for the second time in 1980. Nixon ran for the second time in 1968.

You're so full of crap, you can't see straight.

11. I thought we were talking about Democrats?
Al Gore is the only Democrat to run seriously twice for the nomination, making it past New Hampshire both times as a serious candidate. Of course, they were twelve years apart, and, of course, in his second run, he was the incumbent Vice President. notice that he didn't run in 1992 (much of which was due to his son's accident and hospitalization, but he would have had plenty of time, with name recognition, to run if he had wanted to)

so do me a favor. name a Democratic candidate who has finished in the top three in Iowa or New Hampshire, who has made a serious run again for the Presidency. How did John Edwards do this year?

but you're right, I am full of crap, while you are listing the authoritarian, succession tendencies of the Republicans as precedent.

7. I agree with you
but think she should drop out May 21st the day after Kentucky and Oregon. That would leave PR, Montana and North Dakota. She should also concede the issue of Florida and Michigan and let the party work out how they are seated rather then advocating for them being seated with no penalty.
