1. Was that the "Situation Room" interview?
I caught that, too, yesterday afternoon, and was very happy to see him mention Hillary in such a complimentary way.

3. yes it was. And he spoke very positively about her.
Hey. I would bust a gut if the two of them
were on the same ticket.

Personally, I think it would work.

I know, I know... there are a lot of people
here who would be against it...
Come on... let's let bygones be bygones...
A black man and a woman for President/Vice President.
Tell me that aint something to celebrate.

Nothing is perfect in his universe. Let's make the best
of it and work together. I will give my all to Obama...
can you forgive and let Hillary be part of the ticket?

Nothing can stop us.

If Obama can move past it, why can't you?

Let's join hands. Come on! Drop the animosity.
Let's work together!

(p.s. if you want to shoot me -- go ahead.
but I think we are bigger than this)

2. Real bad idea
The Clinton machine working in the background of the VP's office would certainly sabotage Obama's efforts, and it would not rid the government of the machine it has been voting against during these primaries.

5. It wont happen, it would go against what he has been running on for over 10 years
Edited on Fri May-09-08 04:29 AM by Boz
He hasn't compromised his principals to make it easier yet, he is certainly not going to compromise on that.

11. Change can be good or bad - Clintons have changed for the worse.
Edited on Fri May-09-08 04:56 AM by Divernan
The only change the Clintons represent is change from liberal to conservative, neo-con values and style.

13. You actually believe that?
These two substantively on the record represent pretty much the same thing.

Procedurally, on the campaign trail for the GE- you're right tho, I couldn't think of two worse candidates to hook up.

4. Sorry he said she is skilled enough to be vice president or president
Edited on Fri May-09-08 04:27 AM by Boz
But, he also said its to soon to be considering a vp.

Sorry not trying to shoot down enthusiasm, but have to be more specific, in such a time of spin, parsing and misspeaking.

10. She has motive. Why give her opportunity?
I agree, he was being diplomatic. That's because he is statesmanlike. We haven't had the opportunity for many years to see how professional diplomats, as opposed to hack politicians, conduct themselves. They NEVER and I mean NEVER indulge themselves in histrionic arm-waving, eye-bulging "and the heavens will open" moments. They don't publicly confront when they can privately deal with issues, problems and individuals.

There are many excellent reasons, already explicated in great detail on DU and elsewhere, why Obama will never let HRC (and her ubiquitous hubbie)on the ticket. He has nothing to gain by publicly airing those while being interviewed.

12. He did the same thing in the NBC Nightly News interview with Brian Williams.
His tone was very flattering about her. He did not rule anything out regarding choosing her for VP. It would be good for him to choose her since she is so tenacious and he would garner all of her voters in the process.

17. No. It is not a good idea. It would be a nightmare to choose her as vp.

19. I think he is considering it.
He may have little choice in the matter in order to get her votes. It may be a nightmare to you, but the average American who does not eat politics for breakfast like we do, may consider it a great option. She has accrued millions of supporters and he needs them in order to win. He can not win if they stay home and refuse to vote.

14. He was smart and diplomatic in being gracious to her
...but she has really crossed the line with her negativity and pandering.

We need a clean break. With everything she has done to try to gain the nomination, I would never feel comfortable with her in that spot. She may be a skilled politician, but she has a boatload of negatives. There are plenty of others who can complement him.
