And JFK came to town. Only now I'm old enough to know exactly why I feel so inspired and so blown away. I'm so happy to have a chance to vote for a candidate for president that I totally respect, admire and have faith in. I never thought it was going to happen.
7. As you all know, I've had (and have) my doubts about Kerry...
...but he dispelled a couple of big ones tonight -- specifically, that he would be an easy target for Bush and would run an uninspiring campaign. That was one fantastic speech, and stakes out Kerry's position as one who can point out the flaws of the current (mis)administration while at the same time coming across as inspiring rather than negative.
And damned if that moment of Kerry embracing his fellow Swift Boat vets while "No Surrender" played in the background didn't give me chills. That was symbolism at its most potent.
