The pundits have been harping all week saying that if Democrats said the economy sucked they'd be perceived as a "pessemistic" party.
Kerry turned it around saying that Republicans claim that THIS economy is the best it's ever been is pessemistic. His turned it around and said Republicans have low standards for what Americans can achieve.
I LOVE the way he addressed the trade issue as well. He talked about Americans training their foreign replacements and having their work equipment unbolted from the floor and shipped off to China. He made it clear that competition wasn't the issue. He made the bold (and true) statement that when Americans can compete on fair ground they will ALWAYS win and will NEVER shy away from competition.
I thank Dennis for that bit. He's not calling for elimination of NAFTA/WTO but they are calling for cracking down on foreign countries and eliminating subisides for outsourcing. I'm sure part of this deal would make Halliburton ineligible for government contracts due to their offshoring their taxes to Bermuda (that and doing business with Iraq).
