Once again, how do we convince black voters to vote for Republicans?
Barrack Obama receives 90 percent of the black vote. This is a problem.

John Kerry also received 90 percent of the black vote. This - logically - must also be a problem.

What can Democrats do to break the Democratic monopoly on black voters? Should one of our platform planls be "To win 75 (and no more than 75) percent of the vote of black voters?

3. Elect a Democrat who is in favor of gutting the New Deal and repealing Affirmative Action.

That'll drive out a lot of black voters. Of course, if such a Democrat were ever elected, I'd be driven out of the party.

4. but my question is
did John Kerry bask in the white vote and receive the black vote, or did he receive the white vote and bask in the black vote?

Because those odd semantics intrigue me.

5. No Democrat basks in the white vote because we haven't won "the white vote" in decades
Unless I am mistaken, I think LBJ is the last Democrat to win a majority of white voters.

of white Democratic voters. I just thought the verbs used in another thread title were odd, and asked about them, but wasn't really given an answer.

6. You are on to something. We shouldn't win ANY group by more than 75%
so we need to do something about the Jews, the gays and the youth. Personally, I think we should aim for 50%+1. I'd love to see ALL of our elections decided by the Supreme Court.

8. I actually don't think we get 75 percent of gay voters; I think it is closer to 70
Which is really just insane when you think about it.

The Jewish vote is like 80 percent for Dems. That needs to come down.

10. in the GE, and if you carry Obama's AA support to the GE,
then he'll get 90% there too. This is obviously a problem.

Maybe we should have a different level that is acceptable, depending on whether it is a primary or a g.e.

How about... no more than 50% of blacks can support one candidate in a primary, and no more than 75% of blacks can support one candidate in a general election. What do you think?
