GOP Incumbent Drops Out! Donate to Ginny Schrader (D-PA) Now!
Yesterday evening, 6-term GOP Congressman Jim Greenwood (PA-8) decided to retire from the House of Reps. (Read the CNN story here.) This is a major opportunity for a Democratic pick-up.

Greenwood's Democratic Opponent, Ginny Schrader, is in a great position to win the seat, but she needs cash. Many Democratic blogs, including Kos, have taken up her cause overnight, and she has already raised thousands of dollars. I strongly urge DUers to help out, too.

Visit her website to learn more about Ginny. She sounds like a great candidate: http://www.ginnyschrader.com

There is a link to donate on her page. Or you can go directly to her donate page by clicking here:

Let's go help her out, DUers!

6. They must be scrambling
I looked all over the PA GOP site and googled; found nothing (save for some info on Greenwood's scandals - heh).

Perhaps someone else knows ... apologies!

2. Oh, great. * sigh *
Well, there went my last $50. :hippie:

Seriously, her positions on the issues are quite good and I certainly hope everyone gives what they can.

7. That district leans pretty far right.
I think the incumbent won by about 25% last time around. I think Bush lost the county that USED to make up the 8th, but I think it's been changed with the new lines.

When is the primary? Filing deadline? etc?

We could win it if it's too late for them to get someone on the ballot. But in most states the party has the opportunity to get someone on that line with more than three months to go.

8. it will be my pleasure to donate to her campaign, but I was wondering
if a total was ever determined from the 'donate $5 to Kerry' effort last week?

9. An update...
The blogsphere raised $20,000 in a little over 14 hours for the candidate...

This is not a heavy lean repug district, the retiring R is a moderate....Gore won the district by almost 6%...this district is trending Dem....

It is in a highly contested battle ground state, in a region of the state that Dems need to get out the vote, so having a competitive races further down the ticket will help get out the vote...

Anything you can do at this point will be of tremendous help....

Do the math:

1,000 people giving $10 = $10,000

If we could get 10 different blogs to get 1,000 people to donate that much, we have $100,000....than the DCCC, Dem Members of Congress, the DNC and Emily's list will kick in some cash and before you know it, this candidate has $500,000 in the bank...

This would scare the shit out of any potential Repugs thinking of runnning...plus...it's going to cost the repugs more money that they didn't plan on spending...and their well is running dry...

Drain the swamp......we have to stop thinking about elections that are 1st tier....give to the 2nd and 3rd tier candidates....this will prevent them from sending on cash to the competitive elections..

One thing studies have found is that every incumbent, no matter how safe, is always worried about losing...

By putting the pressure on people like DeLay, Regula, Hassert, etc....we will make them keep their cash at home and not share it around...

Keep the pressure on them.....

To quote LOTR: Show them no mercy, for you shal receive none!

10. Thanks for the lead.
I just made a contribution to her campaign. Thanks, Skinner, for publicising Ginny's situation.

Wouldn't it be cool to take both houses? Then we could start campaigning for the impeachment of the five criminals that appointed the Smirk.
