Clinton the Populist beats McC
the Populist Beats McCain
by TexasDarlin, Sun May 04, 2008 at 05:16:53 PM EST

General Election polls continue to demonstrate that Clinton is the far stronger candidate against McCain than Obama.

Real Clear Politics has data from 6 recent national General Election polls. In a Clinton v. McCain match-up, Clinton beats McCain in FIVE of the 6 polls. In an Obama v. McCain match-up, McCain beats Obama in 3 of the polls and ties him in one.

More importantly, in key battleground states, Clinton beats McCain in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Florida, while Obama loses to McCain in all 3 states. And RCP highlights a recent McClathy article about Obama's likely loss in Indiana to McCain. A new Rasmussen poll for New Hampshire claims "Clinton gains on McCain...Obama heads in opposite direction."

Obama's problems with working class voters have worsened, according to a story posted yesterday by the AP:

1. Obamas problem is that everybody is voting for him too much. He's so unelectable.... winning and all

31. Oh, don't you HATE when that happens?
He thinks he's who he is, what with all those votes and all.

I just don't understand why people can't see that the candidate he's beating would be the obvious choice!

Welcome to DU, ossman! :hi:

6. These polls don't take into account the damage incurred by SDs overturning the vote
They are pointless anyway - a poll 7 months before an election is mental masturbation at best. But these are even more useless.

30. Oh Goody A Five Syllable Word That Means Black
Sure fire Miss Emily. Like Hillary has all that experience and such. Note to Em' standing by your cheating lout of a husband and hanging on the remnants of his coat sounds a bit like Scarlett O'Hara. Do you want Obama to make a suit out of the curtains too?

33. If you're black, experience counts for only 3/5 as much, you see.
So Obama's 11 years of elected office only count for 6.6 years.

Hence the Shillbot argument that Hillary is somehow more "experienced", no doubt.

Or are you just bitter when it comes to not getting something out of this for having supported Hillary ??

Do you want America to get smart, or are you willing to throw this all down the toilet if you don't get your way and don't get the candidate you want?

because they are too scared to nominate a black man, no. They can go fuck themselves.

Heck I wont support any party that can pick and choose its own corporate shill over the voters any time they want.

8. If she cant beat the (supposed weaker candidate) how can she beat McCain
Actually your post in lacking a vital thing. Although he is losing to McCain (right now) in those three states, he is much more compettitve in A LOT more states and winning some that she is behind. Six of one half dozen of another. But the truth is he can become more competitive in the states you said. But hes already more competitve. He makes red states Less red and she makes red states redder. Next time try reading the whole story at DD before you spout off.

40. the idea that three of the largest states in the union somehow
don't matter has to be the most mind numbingly stupid argument coming out of the Obama camp yet.

It's the sort of thinking that loses elections.

We lose all three of those states and we lose, period. A handful of smaller swing states (and WI isn't a swing state, btw), are not going to make up the 68 EC votes of those three, especially since we're not going to win all of those smaller states you mention. The western strategy gets taken off the table by McCain, who is - surprise! - a westerner himself. We could very well lose all of the mountain west for just that reason - which only makes the big three swing states that much more important to win.

Seems like every other thing they say is like a surrogate for the Hillary campaign. They NEVER seem to focus on the REAL target, or make really logical arguments.
