Matthews just now--- "Ghetto-izes him. Puts him back in the 'hood' "
He just said this. If Obama can't get his poll numbers back up in the white working class demographic.

Right before that, he said the white working class voters are "the regular people."

Not sure what the black working class voter is. He never said.

When does this stop?

And to answer your question: I don't think it WILL stop. Who has the power to make it stop? Surely, not the people. As long as we watch, they continue.

37. yeah, I turned on Andrea Mitchell for a moment today.
It was pretty funny. She was like "Well, Obama got a former DNC chair to endorse him, but it's not that big of a deal, because everyone assumed that he has been in the Obama camp for some time. NOW, let's move on to an uncommitted Texas superdelegate and his 'concerns' about Barack Obama!" The superdelegate started talking about how "disturbed" he was that Obama was "losing ground" in NC, and could not "connect" to the working class vote. Hmmm, wonder which camp he is "unofficially" in.

His racism, weakness, and stupidity would be known to all long before he even opened his fat mouth.

This comment reminds me of when the LA mayor (or was it the chief of police?) said the chokehold killed blacks because the arteries in their necks were shaped differently from "normal people's."

35. Chris Matthews has not been a "regular person" in over 40 years...
For him to be the self-appointed mouthpiece of "regular folk" is analagous to George Bush becoming the spokesman for MENSA.
I think Mattew's hard-on for McCain has warped his brain.. He probably didn't watch "There's Something About Mary"--

'Oh my God, he doesn't flog the dolphin before a big date. Are you crazy? That's like going out there with a loaded gun! Of course that's why you're nervous. Oh my dear friend, please sit, please... I never watch Matthews. I do watch Fox fairly often. I hope Hannity and Colmes will dump Colmes and put frequent guest Bob Beckel in his place. I LOVE Bob Beckel for many reasons. He's really in touch with ordinary people. He should have a show on Fox. he was once on CNN. CNn throws away real talent whenever they get any.

Why do you all call Matthews "Tweety?"

42. I just wrote a letter and I HATE to do that
because I think they just ignore them, anyhow. But I am so pissed that this keeps happening. It's ridiculous.

Hello,

I am writing this to express my consternation at Mr. Matthews' repeated use of "regular people" as a synonym for "white working class." In fact, the many African American, Latino, and Asian working class people I know are also "regular people"; Mr. Matthews' repeated use of this trope is the sickest form of insidious racism that places white people in normative subject positions and marginalizes everyone else. Of course, we know that MSNBC, with its continued dependence on Pat Buchanan as an authority on race, or Joe Scarborough's repeated invectives, specializes in a distinct version of racism, but Mr Matthews is something else entirely. He pretends toward a kind of liberalism, and yet, in his dotage, he sees the blue collar white people he grew up with as still, somehow, representative Americans. He is precisely the kind of person Sen Obama accused Rev Wright of being--someone who looked at America as if it were static, someone in a kind of temporal void.

We know, however, that America isn't static and that America, if not Mr Matthews' conception of it, has changed since the 70s. It's time for him to wake up.

Best,
