Edited on Fri May-02-08 12:25 PM by tokenlib
This Kantor video hysteria has proven how the media chases after YouTube videos and other stuff like dogs after a rabbit. It is another distraction from the real issues. It drives people to make ignorant accusations and to rush to judgement.

This does nothing about helping us find good jobs, or helping us with energy policy, or anything else.

This hysteria is insane whether the video were real or not.

We should all try to be better than this--leave it to the cable news morons..

2. I agree. This proves my point about media sensationalism re. Wright and Bittergate
That it's insane how the media focuses on this crap instead of covering the issues.

10. The media used to have self-respect and restraint...
..they used to verify stories.. This cable news world and the rush to be first with "Breaking News" long ago went too far--but this is more proof.

It's like living inside the National Enquirer. If this represents the best of the Democratic Party, we are in deep doo-doo.

11. Ben Smith has backed off the idea that this was fake. He is talking to the person who
posted it.

I don't really care about this crap but you can stop running around posting that it is fake.

7. There is an actual, real, substantive issue that both campaigns want to focus on.
The Gas Tax BS.

Why don't we focus on that? I also think the Sidney Blumenthal article should be an issue.

14. Obama would be wise to come out with a statement like this:
I know what it is like for people to try and put other's words in my mouth. I know what it is like for the candidate opposing me to jump on these distractions and use them to her political advantage. I will not use my campaign for this kind of politics. Kantor said what he said...not Hillary Clinton. Therefore, I won't use his ill-advised words against Senator Clinton by trying to put his words in her mouth. I won't get down in the gutter with stuff like this. I will treat Senator Clinton the way I would want Senator Clinton to treat me.

then lobbied mainstream media sources to cover it.

It's US.

Stop blaming the media when we're at fault.

22. My take on this,
I think that some eager beaver Obama supporter thought that he was doing his campaign a favor by doctoring the video. Every candidate has some wacko supporters. Not the candidate's fault.
