patriotic.

9. Gee, doesn't she know the code?
Edited on Fri May-02-08 11:22 AM by merh
As a lawyer and a senator and the former first lady, she should know the law, don't you think?

The Flag Code states that the flag should never be worn. (Section 8d): "The flag should never be used as wearing apparel."

oh, and there is 8(j)

No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic uniform. However, a flag patch may be affixed to the uniform of military personnel, firemen, policemen, and members of patriotic organizations. The flag represents a living country and is itself considered a living thing. Therefore, the lapel flag pin being a replica, should be worn on the left lapel near the heart.

12. Even the rules of "good taste"
those are ugly glasses, which is why the law doesn't allow for the flag to used as apparel or worn, out of respect and in good taste.

:eyes:

15. Not nice..............leaving out the blurb...
I will post it for you...

"US Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton (D-NY) wears glasses given to her by a supporter as she campaigns at a high school in Jeffersonville, Indiana May 1, 2008. REUTERS/John Gress (UNITED STATES) US PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION CAMPAIGN 2008"

AND, you left out the best pic...

A supporter handed her these, it is not like she went out and purchased them herself to disrespect the flag and the laws about it. I do see that the Kantor issue hasn't taught many a thing here, still plenty wanting to make things seem different than what they are by presenting half of the facts.

Glad to help out. :hi:

17. clearly they are in bad taste, disrespectful to the flag and against the law
So she does photo ops disrespecting the flag she voted to protect (by criminalizing its burning) because a supporter gave them to her? What would be wrong with saying thank you, signing a autograph and moving along or even telling the supporter about the law?

What won't she wear if it is given to her by a supporter?

And mind you, DUers for years have slammed bush and the conservatives for just this thing.

20. Show me one post where I have slammed a soul for it.
One. That is all I am asking for. I am against using it myself and desecrating it is wrong but, it is on everything in the apparel line. There must be a loop-hole that allows manufacturing of it that way, or else a lot of businesses would be in serious trouble.

Hillary wearing these sunglasses is hardly a comparison to chimpy autographing an American Flag, or standing on a rug with the American Flag on it.
Sorry the Obama supporters got Rick Rolled today, no need to dump that outrage on this and make another false issue out of nothing.

23. Here is a clue
this isn't about you.

Did Hillary interrupt Charlie or George when they were going after Obama for not wearing a flag pin? Did she say "hold up guys, that isn't an issue, I'm not wearing one, you aren't wearing one, can we talk about the issues?"

Nope, she sure the shit didn't, she just smirked.

Now we have her doing her photo op and wearing these for the photo op, wearing shades that violate the laws/regs regarding the respect for the flag. Instead of just ignoring the thread or commenting on how disappointing it is that she did that type of pandering, you run in here posting the lovely supportive post admonishing the OP for posting the image.

It is about hillary the candidate and her pandering to the right and becoming as bad as those she allegedly opposes. I betcha while out there campaigning she gets flowers and tshirts and big dawgs and all sorts of "gifts" from fans. She doesn't wear them all, she shouldn't have worn these and you shouldn't have rushed in her to defend her.

25. Technically
I don't see how these sunglasses violate any law regarding the flag. They are clearly based on the general motif of the flag but I don't think the design is close enough to be called a flag.

26. When did Hillary become Barack's mom?
Having to rescue him all of the time and condemned if she doesn't? These are grown-ups competing for a job, neither is responsible for the other, nor or they held to defending them. Has Barack come to her defense without being specifically asked what he thought?

35. But you see, you and I have different perceptions of the fairness.
Hillary has put up with smears in the media for 15+ years. Regardless of the new type of politician that Barack is, sorry he is going to get the same treatment by the media - 'kick'em when they're down'. Barack better get used to it, and learn how to stand up for himself and squash shit like this to start with, especially if he plans on running in the GE. The whole reason Obama has suffered so much on the Wright issue is he took to long to take a stand, and in turn, after saying 'he could no longer denounce Wright than he could African-Americans, Obama denounces Wright only after it proves to be problematic for Obama's campaign. This makes Obama appear as having poor judgment. If he says after 20 years, he must not really know Wright, can America trust his judgment on foreign leaders and their issues.

43. So it's not about fairness and the issues for you, it is about paybacks
as you approve the negatives and the same type of non-issue smears that you complain she has suffered over 15 years or so.

Poor judgment and guilt by association, the double standards of hillary supporters crack me up. Do you really want to get into that?
