*************It's the money*******************
It finally occurred to me why Clinton won't drop out. (Pardon me if I'm late to the game on this.) It's the money. And not her own. It's not about paying off her own campaign loan or leaving the election with a war chest. Whatever the plan for that once was--if it ever existed--it's long gone.

It's her backers. Clinton has been so heavily financed by corporate interests and big donors, that she OWES a lot of very powerful people a lot of serious presidential influence. She's in debt chit-wise to her ears, beholding to powerful people who make things move in this country. If she quits, her 3% chance to pay off those debts goes to zero.

In some ways, it must be a relief to her that some of her big money donors are jumping to Obama. At least she won't owe THEM.

1. I fully expect
A part of the settlement for her dropping out will be helping her pay off her debt.

4. Sad
That we'll have to do it instead of the money going to active senate and congressional races.

5. Dont forget that theres a reason she & Bill made $109 million in 7 years
Edited on Wed Apr-30-08 02:19 PM by DJ13
And it has nothing to do with Bill's ability to speak for an hour at a time.

All those corporations that paid for speeches thought they were buying access to a Clinton WH.

That makes for a lot of very unhappy people who wont let them quit until they have no choice.

to those same bidders.
