Top Michigan Democrats Suggest Splitting Delegates
Top Michigan Democrats suggest splitting delegates
By KATHY BARKS HOFFMAN – 3 hours ago

LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan Democrats working to get the state's delegates seated at the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday suggested splitting them 69-59 between presidential candidates Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama.

The Democratic National Committee stripped Michigan of its 128 delegates for holding its presidential primary too early in the year.

Clinton has argued that she should get 73 delegates based on the results of the Jan. 15 primary, which she won — 18 more than Obama.

Obama, who removed his name from the ballot, wants the 128 pledged delegates split evenly, 64-64.

The compromise, suggested Tuesday in a letter to Michigan Democratic Chairman Mark Brewer, fell halfway between the two proposals.

Last week, the party's Rules and Bylaws committee announced a May 31 meeting to consider a separate plan to award half delegates as a means of resolving the dispute over Florida's and Michigan's contests.

2. Done Deal
If this shuts up the stupid MI argument fine. However Hillary will never do it because she needs that as an issue for her campaign.

3. I hope this is declined
Our our next primary season will be sold to the highest bidder as everyone will vote on January 2nd.

At a bare minimum, they need to strip the SDs of these states that allowed it to happen.

4. The only thing that'll work, as I see it:
50% loss of delegates for MI and FL; SDs from both states stripped of delegate status; remaining delegates after 50% penalty split 60/40 for Florida and 50/50 for Michigan. Anything else is probably going to be unacceptable.

6. I could live with this.
I'm a Michigan resident and an Obama supporter who thinks this stupidity has gone on long enough. Based on the original date it was likely that Clinton would have pulled out a win but not by as much as she did in the mockery that was our primary. All this does, really, is take the votes that the other candidates would have received and split them between Clinton and Obama. If that's what it takes then lets do it.

7. Clinton won't go for it. The only way she wins is if FL & MI are seated as is.

And she wins each of the remaining states by 40+ points.
