Obama at Assembly Hall, Indiana University, Bloomington, IN -WEDNESDAY!
It's beautiful weather in Bloomington. Obama will be speaking in this little college town tomorrow, for any and all interested.

Only a beautiful 2 hour drive from Cinnci, 2 from Louisville, 2 or so from Champaign-Urbana. Obama will be at Assembly Hall, the large sports facility where basketball games take place and where the homecoming concert was this year.

This area of the country is beautiful, if you want to make a short vacation trip. The hilly Hoosier National Forest is 10 miles from the center of town. There are restaurants featuring food from African nations, central Asian nations, Tibet... and these are run by people from those nations. Oliver Winery is a nice place to picnic. There are several local microbreweries and a local wine bar that's tasty.

Most nights there's some good jazz somewhere in town - the IU School of Music was endowed by Leonard Bernstein and attracts top musicians. Joshua Bell is from Bloomington and studied violin here before he became the darling of New York.

The Dali Lama's brother lives here and his family runs two Tibetan restaurants. There are also two Tibetan visitor centers. The one near Cascades Park is a walk-in facility. There's a great used bookstore here called Caveat Emptor... Cornell West had to visit that one when he was here (I know this cause I just happened to be in there when he walked in.) Downtown Bloomington is a classic college town with a town square and a main drag that leads to the University gates. there is an arboretum at the entrance with paths thru virgin forest. Indiana University has long been noted as one of the most beautiful campuses in America.

The Kinsey Institute is here, as well as one of the top ten special collections in the nation, The Lilly Library. There is a Hoagy Carmichael room on campus with memorabilia of the time when he wrote songs at a little cafe on Indiana Ave. There's a hotel on campus, in the student center, with pool tables, a bowling alley, giant tv screens and, of course, IU memorabilia.

Just wanted to inform those who might be interested. This is a great opportunity to hear the next president of the United States speak and then enjoy a visit to one of the best college towns in the U.S.

I'm not volunteering to show ppl around, or to provide a place to crash etc. b/c I will be working the event tomorrow. (and because my house looks like invasion of the dust elephants... they're no longer bunnies.)

However, if you're gonna be here, pm me and we can meet for a glass of wine or beer later, maybe?

1. Unlike Hillary Clinton, he will probably fill up the entire arena.

2. Let's keep the focus on Obama
there's all kinds of things that could be said... but the campaign here is about the positive actions you and others can take to make a difference. You are the one you've been waiting for... all that, you know? :hi:
