So African-Americans watch a Black man with a good chance of becoming president get BEATEN DOWN...
...due to stuff his pastor said about race. Not something the candidate himself said--his PASTOR said. And most of it was 100% true. Never mind.

But then once that's gone and done and over with, the predominantly white media and politicos will come back to their favorite question about the AA community--

"Why

So

Angry?"

It makes your head spin, it really does...

So why don't you just skip them?
Who forces you to click on each one? You're an adult, presumbly, so you control your actions and read what you want to read, and comment on what you want to comment on. No?

5. I'm white and I'm mad as hell about it
I have no doubt in my mind that the Wright scandal would not be such a huge media shitstorm if Obama and his pastor were white.

NBC Is Toughest on Hillary; FOX Has Heaviest Coverage

Hillary Clinton is getting the worst press and Barack Obama the best press of any major presidential candidate, and Bill Clinton is also getting negative reviews, while the gap in good press between John McCain and Mitt Romney is narrowing, according to a new study of TV news election coverage by the Center for Media and Public Affairs. The study also finds that FOX’s evening news show had the most coverage of policy issues and the least coverage of the campaign horse race...

Hillary Pilloried?

Since mid-December, when the presidential candidates turned their full attention to the Iowa caucuses, Sen. Barack Obama has led the race for good press and Sen. Hillary Clinton has lagged the farthest behind. From Dec 16 through Jan 27 five out of six on-air evaluations of Obama (84%) have been favorable, compared to a bare majority (51%) of evaluations of Mrs. Clinton. Examples:

taking Obama to heart and defending Wright who is at turns brilliant and completely self absorbed and egotistical.

15. I'd be either dead or in prison a long time ago if I were black
given my impatient and angry disposition. I sincerely believe that. White society and the moral bankruptcy of its double standards are hard enough for me to take as an economically favored white man.

I imagine the church would have been one of my only salvations, and a preacher like Reverend Wright would have been a godsend, so to speak.

From a tactical point of view, I wish he had stopped with the Moyers interview. From a human point of view, I can't blame him a bit for fighting back against the Hannitys of the world.

17. I really like this part of "Dreams from my Father"
Edited on Mon Apr-28-08 11:11 PM by beat tk
"We were always playing on the white man's court... by the white man's rules," he writes. "If the principal, or the coach, or a teacher... wanted to spit in your face, he could, because he had the power and you didn't.... The only thing you could choose was withdrawal into a smaller and smaller coil of rage.

And the final irony: should you refuse this defeat and lash out at your captors... they would have a name for that too. Paranoid. Militant. Violent. N***er"

We had an opportunity to talk about all of this honestly, but too many choose potshot politics over the common good. Fine lot of Democrats they are.

23. what is amazing is most of you obama paint every damn thing
with a broad brush. Many in teh black community are mad because they see pastor wright as speaking for all the black churches in america. They understand he is not. This is the backlash that obama is getting from the black churches and obama fails to see it.....

what the blacks do not understand is how a man that is so intelligent could allow hisself to remian in a church for 20 years when a pastor speaks of hate for whites and israel and jews. The vast majority of black churches do not do this type of sunday sermons and are down right mad at obama and pastor wright and the media for this....

Most black people agree with Wright but are mad because we know that some white people hate to hear the truth about their country.
