Don't you think with the "under the radar" talk that's been going on in Dem. circles (supers and others) that if it looks like Obama is in trouble, a lot of the supers who might have been going to declare for him might hold back. And with Hillary's high negatives (over 50% in some recent polls) she doesn't look like an automatic winner. So, to save their own hides (which is, after all, what they really want to do) some supers will be looking for a compromise/alternative that can be a sure winner in Nov. And that sure winner is Gore - perhaps with Obama as VP. We are getting ready to start a letter writing campaign to supers and should have a web site devoted to that up shortly. That Republican ad was run in a very Republican district (Cook PVI of R+10, meaning that it tends to vote about 10 percentage points more Republican than the national average).

Yes, the Republicans will try to swiftboat Obama over Rev. Wright, and they'll try that just about everywhere. Nevertheless, what happens in downticket races in heavily Republican districts doesn't tell us much about what to expect overall.
