HEY YOU. Come here and let me slap you silly
Edited on Mon Apr-28-08 08:43 PM by FLDem5
When ever Obama is doing really well, and I feel this thing, this momentum can't be stopped - I check myself. And I say to myself. "Chill - you know what a difference a week can make."

Because things go up, and things go down, and shit happens, and blondes get kidnapped and wildfires burn, and Politicians and their advocates say stupid things, and the sun comes up and the world still turns. If its good, enjoy it, because by this time next week, it could be really bad. And vice versa.

So quitcherbitchin'. By next week, next month, this will be old news. What you should be doing, when you feel your candidate is in need, with his back against the wall, is standing up for him, and helping him out

So cut the crap. Stop the whining. And PICK UP THE DAMN PHONE and call those nice folks in Indiana and North Carolina. And if you feel ashamed at your waffling like a Congressional Democrat, exorcise your demons by dropping some cash, enough to make the SuperDelegate's heads spin.

Still feelin' like a beaten Dem with Karl Rove standing over you? Read this:

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/4/28/165538/015/404/505047

You have gone from hope and change to doom and gloom. You people have gone from "Yes We Can" to "Obama Should..." And where you once saw the possibilities that awaits a candidate who has millions at his back, you now see an abysmal pitfall at every slight misstep. OMG!! OBAMA GAVE HILLARY TEH MIDDLE FINGERS! WHAT WILL THIS DO O HI9S POLL NUMBERZ?!?!

Jesus Christ. What the fuck happened to you people?

Has Karl Rove so conditioned you that you now accept his rules and react like whipped dogs to every shout by an opponent? Has the Clinton campaign and its supporters so thoroughly fatigued and harangued you that you now wonder whether Obama is "electable" based on the arguments of someone who should be the very last person making electability arguments--someone who is losing?

Are you so easily defeated?

Well, let me tell you, sisters and brothers, I don't believe you are that easily defeated.

Because you know that this was not going to be easy, and you signed up all the same. You know, as the man himself said, that the battles ahead would be long. That there would be a chorus of cynics who would only grow louder and more dissonant.

You knew that this man--this African American man who dared to challenge, who had the audacity to challenge existing power structures and ideas and the way of doing business--you knew that this man was going to be attacked, and derided, and ridiculed, and scorned.

You knew that his kind of thinking would make too many enemies.

You knew that they would throw more than the kitchen sink at him--you knew that their goal was to make it such that he would feel that the whole of the moon and the stars had fallen upon him.

You knew that in this primary we would see the most jaw-dropping, line-shattering, undignified things ever said about or hurled at one man. You knew he would make mistakes, and you knew those who wanted him defeated would take every mistake and twist it into a lie-filled, pointed cudgel that they would use to bash him again and again and again.

You knew all this.

You knew all this, but still you signed up.

Now go kick some fucking ass for our candidate. Because you damn well know that he is what we need right now.

"No Shock" Barack, "No Drama" Obama will take care of this - we need to take care of him.

Peace.

1. Exactly it has no legs as people are probablhy fed up of seeing wright by now.
Edited on Mon Apr-28-08 08:24 PM by barack the house
People have seen plenty I think he mostly has to do the debate to reenergise his figures wright is a story that is just being embarasingly resurrected. I think the lincoln debate sounds cool and as long as he stayed positive I can't see Hillary get much out of it.

5. They keep saying Wright is the end of Obama's campaign, but
let's evaluate the impact of the Wright smear since it began:
  • Hawaii: Obama 76%, Hillary 24%

  • Wisconsin: Obama 58%, Hillary 41%

  • Ohio: Obama 44%, Hillary 54%

  • Rhode Island: Obama 40%, Hillary 58%

  • Texas P: Obama 47%, Hillary 51%

  • Texas C: Obama 56%, Hillary 44%

  • Vermont: Obama 59%, Hillary 39%

  • Wyoming: Obama 61%, Hillary 38%

  • Mississippi: Obama 61%, Hillary 37%

  • Pennsylvania: Obama 45%, Hillary 55%

Obama won six states (Texas included) to Hillary's three, and he shaved 10 pts of Hillary's PA lead.

8. OH - and some more - I cannot count how many times I felt only the CBC was speaking for me.
Me. This white, middle-aged suburban Mom.

The CBC rocks.

Sometimes, they are the only ones out there with balls in Congress.

So I'm kicking this thread for them.

17. This round of Wright hardly bothered me at all.
Outside of the cries of certain doom from the Hillary supporters (who could have possibly seen that coming?), I wasn't that bothered.

Why? Because Obama maintains. In two, three days he'll make it all manageable.

No worries. Let 'em scream all they want. They don't matter.

18. For me it's not about how or whether Wright will doom Obama.
It's about the opportunity for Clinton supporters to see why "ALL" of us should be joining together to fight MSM, like we always did. If any Clinton supporters saw Wright speak over the weekend, they formed their own opinions, and the media didn't form them. Now that the media has come head on over this, maybe they would have it in them to join up and help to try to end the ways of MSM. And since we are nearing the end of this race and people are seeing who will, and can't win the race now could be the best time for this.

Besides, I process my thoughts when I rant or write out things I'm thinking about. And since the OP (from DailyK) was away all weekend, maybe he is not thinking the same way people thought when they saw Wright over the weekend without the media's influence on them.

19. I hope what you will take from my OP is
if you have nervous energy regarding this, put it to good use by doing what you can to help his campaign. Pick up the phone - calling North Carolina and Indiana is a breeze. Two of the easiest states to call. Two of the friendliest states to call. Help out. Donate. Speak to Obama supporters in the real world, not political junkies. They still love him to death. It does a body good!

29. I wouldn't try that, if I were you.
I'm generally a non-violent person, but anyone who tries to "slap me silly" will end up coldcocked. I don't put up with abuse from anyone.

I'm not going to be "kicking some fucking ass" for anyone; I'm generally a non-violent person, and reserve the ass-kicking for self-defense.

I will, of course, be actively pursuing the nomination of a decent candidate who I can support with a clean conscience in the fall.

That will not be Obama, who is not what we need right now, and who doesn't meet my admittedly higher than average standards for a candidate I can support.

30. Indeed.
Couldn't have said it better. Just means it's time to push back a little harder. We don't win anything by throwing our hands up in defeat at the first sign of trouble. Push back! :)
