OBAMA signs excuse slips for students.
Instead of telling them they were wrong to skip school, he signs an excuse slip, and the students get suspended.

http://www.suntimes.com/news/politics/obama/913104,CST-NWS-diner24.stng

SCRANTON, Pa. -- Two high school seniors are paying a high price for their interest in politics.

Colin Saltry and Joey Daniel say they skipped gym class on Monday to rush over to a diner where Sen. Barack Obama's motorcade pulled in.

The two met Obama, and they say he even signed excuse slips for them to show their teachers.

That didn't work. Saltry and Daniel got one-day suspensions for leaving school grounds. AP

I'm sure it was worth getting suspended to talk to the future president.

I hope they hung onto the slips; they'll be worth saving.

6. Well worth the suspension.. the better question is why wasn't the whole
school there for a learning lesson?

9. I think going out and meeting the man who very well may be our next President
is a little more important than missing a gym class in high school.

At least in my opinion.

You can play dodge ball any day, how often do you have the opportunity to meet someone who may be the next POTUS?

10. they had already skipped school and Obama was letting the teacher know where they were
He had nothing to do with them getting suspended for a day that was up to the school. But leave it to somebody like you to blame Obama for corrupting these students by not lecturing them.

11. One absence won't make them fail
If they had taken a week off, I'd be concerned. But one day off won't affect their grades.

12. Shit. I would've pulled my kids out of school to let them see Obama
and would've written a note for them myself.

This is stupid.

20. he didn't tell them to leave the school
and once they left the grounds, they were in trouble, whether Obama wrote "excuse" them on their notes or not. So what does this have to do with him?

If I wasn't familiar with your posts, I wouldn't think you were serious about this. Sadly, however, I know that you are.

See the little exclamation points next to "excuse Joey" and "excuse Colin". Do you think Obama thought it had any force. If anything it was a lighthearted plea for mercy on behalf of the students. A request that they should be excused. Which they weren't, which is okay. The students themselves were okay with it.

Not so much with stripping one of them from his position as class president, which seems like major overkill. But I'm sure your okay with that.

18. Breathless with anticipation here: Did he sign them Barack Hussein Obama?
Did he use his middle name, to show he's really a Muslim?

Or did he write "God Damn America" on the slips, to show he's a Christian?

How can we keep track? I'm so confused.

(What a pantload. So this is where we are. Nice.)

24. And if it had been Hillary
If it had been Hillary, I'm sure she would've grabbed them both by the ears and marched them straight back into the principals office and demanded that they be given the maximum punishment.

Right?

23. Weak
When I was a senior in high school, our Mayor, a graduate, came to speak at a ceremony commemorating the school's 20th anniversary. At the end of the speech he said:

"I've been waiting 20 years to say this: CLASS DISMISSED"

The majority of us spent the rest of the day driving around town, laughing our asses off while we listened to the Superintendent, begging us to come back to class.

Your outrage is almost as laughable.

35. This happened to my daughter in an anti war protest.
Except her grade was dropped 1% (apparently that's the punishment for skipping school classes.)

I told her I'd never been more proud.

My 78 year old Mom said she had never been more proud of her.

Her principal said she was proud of her, and especially since she was the only student who actually came back to class once the protest was over.
