Who's buying the Clinton story that they raised $10M in 24 hours?
Certainly not me! Not buying that bunk!

Obama could raise that much in 12 hours, and in his sleep, heh.

Clinton couldn't even raise a fly, let alone 2.9M

Oh yes, and Clinton can't do the math either. It's still 9.2%, not 10%!

23. so what's your wager?
a hundred bucks to du? I keep asking, and you keep ignoring me. It is going to be verifiable, so put your money (or something else) where your mouth is. Or do you only call people liars on anonymous message boards where there are no stakes involved.

Or maybe that's to rich for your blood? So how about a sigline wager? If they did raise ten million, you change your sigline for a month to 'I falsely accused hillary Clinton of lying' if she didn't I will have mine read 'hillary lied, and I believed her'

Deal?

37. There's one problem with that..
It only includes the entire total raised for the MONTH - I pledged $100 for proof that Hillary raised the $ in 24 hours. So far, nothing.

38. what would you accept as proof, then?
Edited on Fri Apr-25-08 11:43 AM by northzax
, for instance, is Micah Sifrey at TechPresident, the guy who first raised the alarm about the numbers, clarifying his position (and now saying he accepts the campaign's statements, including an on-the-record interview with Peter Daou, Hillary's online campaign manager). Here is Sifrey:

I retract whatever skepticism I had about the NYT and WP reports above, given these new numbers about total donors. It appears that the Times used the campaign's $10M claim without bothering to update the 70,000 donation factoid--hence my confusion.

oh, and I got this from TPMElectionCentral who are certainly skeptical of Hillary. So we have not just 'advisors' or anonymous sources, we now have the guy, Peter Daou, in charge of this operation, talking on the record and giving hard numbers. He'd be an absolute fool to state numbers on the record which would not hold up to scrutiny, if it turns out he is lying, his career is over. that's as close as we're going to get on proof unless there is an unprecedented auditing of her campaign records (that no one wants to start, because no one wants to be on the recieving end of one)

41. you want an audit or something?
he's not just a hack, he's the guy who's job it is to raise and report these numbers. this was his chance to 'correct' the numbers, and by continuing the story, he ends his career if he is lying. it's no longer a 'misstatement' it's a deliberate, direct, in writing, statement with verifiable numbers. that's all you'll get from Reuters or AP.

here's Marc Armbinder at the Atlantic, saying the same thing. he's no Hillary-lover, and he says that Daou is one of the guys you actually listen to because he tells the truth.

45. Well, there is no confirmed number anywhere via AP or Reuters?
Then I win.

And yes, I am looking for auditable numbers, and I will wait until May 20th, or even the end of this month (if she decides to report), but my feelings are the same - she did not raise 10m.

13. Another math problem, isn't it?
$10,000,000 divided by 100,000 Donors = $100 per donor average

No way. I just can't see that.

But, by the time the lie is exposed, it'll be too late. It's the old 'lie on the front page, correct on page 7' trick.

But it sure as Hell wasn't from the little old ladies and low income workin' folks whom the Hillbots are now trying to spin as her "base".

happy for her. that still leave her 1 mill to add to the 9 mill she had still in the bank (with her 10.3 mill debt) now she's back to and even 10 mill. still 4 times less than what Obama has in the bank......and still raising well.

34. They have the latitude to lie about it, so they are.
Remember - then ends justifies the means. If lying about raising that much money will bring in donations and give her a bump, they'll do it. By the time next month rolls around and the numbers are released, won't matter anyway.

Clinton Library Sells Secret Donor List
November 19, 2007 1:47 PM

Avni Patel and Marcus Baram Report:
Three years after the William J. Clinton Presidential Library opened its doors, the list of donors who helped the former president build his $165 million complex remains a secret from the public.

Yet the Blotter on ABCNews.com has learned that the Clinton Foundation sold portions of the list through a data company headed by a longtime friend and donor.

"The fact that they've sold the list and then turned around and said that these names must be kept anonymous completely undercuts their argument," said Sheila Krumholz of the Center for Responsive Politics, a Washington, D.C.-based government watchdog group that tracks the influence of money in politics.

An employee of Walter Karl, a subsidiary of the data company InfoUSA, told ABCNews.com that the company made a list of more than 38,000 donors to the Clinton presidential library available for sale to foundations and other nonprofit groups from June 2006 to May 2007. A spokesman for the company would not say how the profits from the sale of the partial list were distributed.
----------------------------
The little that is known about the identities of the donors to the Clinton library was reported by the New York Sun in 2004, after a reporter discovered the names on a touch-screen computer on the third floor of the library after its opening.

Members of the Saudi royal family, Arab businessmen, the governments of Dubai, Kuwait, Qatar, Brunei and Taiwan, and Hollywood celebrities, were among the 57 individuals or foundations who gave $1 million or more to the library, according to the Sun.

The computer with the list of donors was disconnected after the Sun article ran. At the time, Clinton officials said that a permanent list of donors contributing $100,000 or more would eventually be installed on a wall at the library.
----
Vin Gupta, CEO of InfoUSA, was also on the list of donors giving $1 million or more.
